2 Pastor s Page Pastor s Page The Journey Continues The road through 2016 has not been an easy journey, but I have learned it s the journey and all its lessons, twist and turns that ultimately prepare us for the destination God has awaiting for us. When we begin 2016, God told me it would be a year of Refreshment, Renewal, and Revitalization. Although there were various moments where our faith in the unknown were tested, looking back, I believe what God spoke to me then still remains true. Throughout the last 365 days I witness a sense of new life infused within this congregation. We have found new strength and new energy to take on new ministry initiatives such as, Praise & Sundays, African American Heritage Month, and Vacation Bible School. We ve extended our ministry engagement to community partners and organizations in a greater capacity, and as a result we have seen a continual pattern of new faces grace us during our various worship experiences was definitely a year of Refreshment, Renewal, & Revitalization! The Journey Continues As we all now collectively look forward to the new things God has awaiting for us individually and collectively in I hear God saying, The Journey Continues. Although we have made some significant strides in the last year, there is still much work to be done on the road to refreshing, renewing, and revitalizing this ministry. Our continued success on our journey towards Refreshment, Renewal, and Revitalization will require more this year than it may have in the past. God has already entrusted us with new ministry programs, and given us vision for our community; we must now be willing to take Responsibility for our actions to ensure we are not causing damage or delays to Gods plans. Paying closer attention to our actions in those moments where we are not fully clear or in agreement with Gods plan. We must make a commitment to do the work necessary to help Restore this ministry to the full vibrant ministry God has intended for it to be within this community. This is not a solo vision, this is a ministry vision, which requires the effort and participation of everyone! Although we may not all operate in the same capacity, we all play a significant role in the manifestation of Gods vision for this church. This year we must all transition from spectator to participator. In sports, although the coach typically identifies ways of improvement for the players of a team, I believe any great coach will testify, constructive criticism is most effective when it comes directly from one active player to another active player of the team, and is partnered with a suggestion of a solution. Last but certainly not least, we must totally submit to Gods plan to give Redefinition to our current level of knowledge of kingdom principles. There are things we have just gotten wrong because of our finite minds. We must be willing to allow God to give us new direction, correction, and broaden our perspective. What may have worked in the past may not be effective for the future; and it s ok! Just because we don t initially understand it does not mean it is outside of God s will! Gods plans are greater than we can imagine, we must allow our hearts, minds, and space to be open to God, and let go of things that are not necessary any longer. Isaiah 43:19 states, See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? Happy New Year; The Journey Continues Pastor D. Marie 2
