1 Tri-State Tres Dias Winter The Spirit of Christmas I love Christmas music! There I ve said it. Yes, I m one of those people that can t wait to start playing Christmas carols. I try to wait until after Thanksgiving, but sometimes I just can t help myself. We all have our favorite songs during the holidays, right? There are the songs that make you laugh (like Porky Pig singing Blue Christmas [if you haven t heard it, you should Google it soon]); songs that evoke a special memory (for me, it s Bing Crosby singing White Christmas ); songs that help us remember what Christmas is all about (at our December Secuela I got especially choked up singing O Holy Night ); and so many more. In my family, a song that speaks Christmas to us is That Spirit of Christmas sung by Ray Charles. Here are some of the lyrics: I was sittin by the fire side Taking a walk through the snow Listening to a children's choir Singing songs about Jesus The blessed way that He came to us Why can't it remain All through the year Each day the same That s what I wanna hear It s truly amazing That spirit of Christmas What is the spirit of Christmas? For believers, the true spirit of Christmas gives Jesus Christ his rightful place in our hearts. It means more of the attitude and mind of Christ. I believe the Christmas spirit manifests itself in our lives through generosity; caring for others; hope; and love. Philippians 2 tells us that we should have the same mindset as Christ Jesus to have an attitude of self-denial and self-sacrifice. Every step Jesus took during his life on Earth led him to surrender what was rightfully His on our behalf. Praise God! The Spirit of Christmas isn t a once-a-year experience. The real Spirit of Christmas shouldn t just be during the Christmas season or on Christmas day. We can and should carry the Spirit of Christmas with us and in us every day of the year, and throughout the remainder of our lives. From my family to yours, have a blessed Christmas season! 2 A Note from Women s Tres Dias Weekend #80 For God who said, Let there be light in the darkness has made this light shine in our hearts so that we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 The women (and 2 men) of TSTD #80 certainly DID experience the glory of God! We witnessed His glory in so many ways: in the faces of new friends, the blessings from 4 th Day, and most importantly the experience of worshiping our precious Savior together. Our lives were forever changed! What a privilege it was to watch God s plan unfold throughout the weekend. It is always amazing to witness how the Lord brings us together from different walks of life and then molds us into one loving body of believers - sisters and brothers in Christ! DeColores! Ruth Yeager Rectora Tres Dias #80 A Note from Men s Tres Dias Weekend #80 The Mens Tri-State Tres Dias #80 weekend was a great Spirit filled time. I've heard no less from any other weekend that I've been on or any other weekend for that matter. God has a way of using us, when we allow Him to use us for His purposes. That's what I witnessed on this weekend, guys surrendered to God who allowed the Holy Spirit to guide them and pour into 16 men for 3 days, which in turn saw hearts softened to receive what God had for them and to also see the "Greatness of God" and His glory on display with His love, mercy and grace for both team and candidates. Many relationships were formed over the weekend and some new groups established, I look forward to seeing what God continues to do with these men and pray we all stay engaged with this ministry that has changed and effected so many lives. What a blessing it was to welcome into our Fourth Day Tres Dias Community the men and women Pescadores from Weekends #80, as well as to welcome them to their first Christmas Secuela for a blessed evening of praise, worship and celebration to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! As we enter into the new year, may we as 4 th Day Pescadores be in prayerful consideration of candidate sponsorship for the quickly approaching spring #81 TD weekends. Part of our individual 4 th day commitment includes the opportunity for sponsorship. And what a unique gift it is to share this experience with our Christian friends and family so that we may help to provide them with additional tools and insight for even greater apostolic action. Sponsorship is a serious commitment and I want to again remind you of the following guidelines in your candidate consideration: 1. Be in earnest prayer for who God would lay on your heart. 2. Go to the website (tri-statetresdias.org) to download and print the Tres Dias brochure to share with your prospective candidate so that you can explain in a nutshell the purpose of the weekend, as well as to perhaps alleviate any potential fear or skepticism. 3. Thoroughly review the sponsorship guidelines (which are also available on the website) in order to verify that your prospective candidate meets the requirements. ( me at carol00720@hotmail.com or phone to clarify any questions.) 4. Print the up-to-date sponsor and candidate application from the website. It is imperative that you sit down personally with your candidate when filling out the application in order to insure that all information is provided and that the candidate questions listed on the application are addressed in order for the candidate to have some understanding as to what to expect and therefore is more comfortable going into the weekend. Please do not ask candidates to copy and send in their application on their own. It must be accompanied by the sponsor application in order to be eligible for a weekend attendance. Also, a reminder that the sponsor must also have attended a TD or a similar weekend. NOW is the time to begin submitting applications for weekend #81so that those involved in the process can make preparations in a timely manner! 5. Take part in weekend sponsorship opportunities (sponsor s service, palanca, candlelight, meal serving, etc.). 6. Follow through with your candidate after the weekend to encourage secuela attendance and active participation in the 4 th Day Community, as well as being helpful with grouping opportunities. BE SURE AND BRING YOUR NEW PESCADORES TO THE FIRST SECUELA AFTER THEIR WEEKEND. The Tres Dias movement is so thankful for and appreciative of your willingness to serve as 4 th day sponsors. It is a huge commitment but also a huge blessing and privilege as together we honor Him through our apostolic action.
