22 WHEELCHAIRS AND WALKERS Hamze is a sweet, smart 14-year-old. He lives near Bethlehem, the city where Jesus was born. When CAM staff first arrived at his house, Hamze was crawling around on the floor because he had outgrown his wheelchair. 23 We could have never afforded to have his arm fixed, said Ervin s mom. This is a very beautiful blessing. URGENT NEEDS Ervin, a ten-year-old boy in Nicaragua, loved to watch his neighbor climb trees and trim them. One day he decided to climb a tree just like he had seen his neighbor do. But it wasn t as easy as it looked. Ervin fell and broke his arm! Ervin s mom and dad didn t have money to get his arm fixed, so they let it heal without a cast. His arm became crooked, and he wasn t able to use it properly. Then Ervin s family got some money from CAM s Special- Needs-Fund to do surgery on the arm. Pastor Akin preached a message to the people and then it was time to unload the truck. Children stood patiently in line, wondering what they might get to take home. 29 SALT Savings Groups 2,000 POUNDS OF MUSTARD! Jesus said that when a mustard seed is planted, it grows up to be greater than all herbs. Shahidul in Bangladesh experienced that firsthand. He is part of a SALT savings group that collectively saves money so members can take out loans and start small businesses. Shahidul took out a loan of 62 and purchased mustard seeds and supplies to start a large-scale gardening project. The tiny seeds grew and flourished. Then harvest time arrived. That s why 120 pastors are on the waiting list to come to CAM s Biblical Discipleship Center in Haiti where they find fellowship and encouragement. At the center they go through three-week seminars on creation, spiritual warfare, the Christian family, and more. By the time they complete the entire series (six seminars), they have a thorough overview of God s Word from a Biblical, Anabaptist perspective. At Christian schools in Lebanon, the children soak up the love and security from their Christian teachers. Many refugee children still do not have a school to go to.
