1 MONTHLY REPORT, MARCH 2017 TBN/WRBJ-TV ~ JACKSON/MAGEE, MISSISSIPPI ONE GREAT PLACE JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC AFFAIRS TBN/WRBJ-TV 34 has been active in the mid-mississippi community this past month attending the Education Appreciation Event at the Marriott Hotel as their guest. This event was part of the City s Visit Jackson outreach to increase economic benefit from tourism. Staff also attended the John and Vera Mae

2 Perkins Foundation seminar on March 7, Maids and Matrons meeting to hear Dr. Susan Riddell speak about children s health concerns on March 28, and the Jackson State University Speak-Off event the same week. WRBJ participates in weekly prayer with Mission Mississippi at City Hall and spoke to the Ralph Humphreys Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution this month about TBN s local station and international evangelistic outreach. The station receives letters from fans of Trinity Broadcasting Network who are happy with our locally produced programs. These programs included interviews with major civil rights pioneers, military heroes, rescue organizations, and many local Christian leaders. One of our former guests who might fit all these categories is Colonel Charles McGee, USAF retired and former member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen. He was honored this month by Regions Bank, a large southern financial corporation, for his achievements. WRBJ received an invitation to attend the upcoming annual Governor s Leadership Conference at the Jackson Convention Center and to bring along any students who may be interested in increasing their leadership skills. Part of our outreach at TBN is opening doors for youth. This Christian themed conference emphasizes fellowship, prayer, and racial reconciliation, so we thought it be great to attend. We emphasize to all that Trinity Broadcasting is in Mississippi to serve Christ with commercial-free, wholesome, and spiritually healthy programming. The consistent response has been deep appreciation for the ministry of TBN and therefore we are often invited to local events because of what and who we represent.

3 JOY IN OUR TOWN! This month we have brought some real Joy In Our Town to viewers as our newly taped programs emphasize positive action to make a real difference in the lives of those needing help. New interviews taped include disabled US Army soldier C. J. Stewart. He is founder of Camp Down Range in Clinton, Mississippi. His organization fosters recovery from post-traumatic war stress and provides Christian leadership challenge training to youth.

4 Severely wounded in Afghanistan, his journey to recovery was powered by his strong Christian faith. He freely shared his faith in Jesus with the viewers and those who attend his camps. His articulate witness to the healing power of Christ is a great testimony. Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Dawn Beam, founder of Rescue 100 initiative to encourage and train new foster families for endangered children, gave an excellent interview with Pastor Jamane Williams. She spoke of the intense need for safe refuge and housing

5 for the many children now in state custody from dangerous family environments. Justice Beam emphasized that this is a continuing need and relayed the importance of church backing to encourage families to step up to this responsibility to help care for these frightened and traumatized children. To address the other side of this issue Joy in Our Town guest Dr. Sal Pellicano, of Beginning Again in Christ, has an effective ministry to released prisoners to help them overcome addiction, break free of gang affiliation, and successfully re-enter society and family life. Mothers and fathers who are sincerely interested in rebuilding their shattered families find assistance through this ministry which involves prayer, counseling, housing, and church networking assistance with emotional and spiritual support so their new journey in the Lord is not undertaken alone. Dr. Pellicano, a former street biker who experienced a profound conversion to Christ, brings the compassion of the Father to his work with prisoners and their families. SUCCESS OF NATIONAL TBN PROGRAMMING Ministries such as those of Beth Moore, Kerry Shook, Jentezen Franklin, Andrew Wommack, and Joyce Meyer enhance the power of TBN s local and global outreach

6 for Jesus both here in Mississippi and around the world. When we travel around Mississippi to tell others about our broadcasts often someone will often thank us for a favorite program. Attorneys, clergy, teachers, and Mississippians in all walks of life tell us they are blessed and encouraged by TBN. The overwhelming positive response to our invitations to interview for local programs also affirms that God s message is getting through. Trinity Broadcasting Network s programming reaches viewers and produces connections to encourage, save, and deliver those who seek Jesus! The consistent daily presence of a global TV ministry broadcasting that God really cares about hurting individuals is an essential part of the Lord s design to spread the good news of Jesus and His Salvation. Jesus will return someday to receive his church but until then TBN/WRBJ-TV 34 strives to keep his message beaming out to the lost souls who looking for THE ANSWER!

7 MAJOR ISSUES IN THE MID-MISSISSIPPI AREA Without Jesus, there is never enough love. The situation for so many children and young people in Mississippi is an unfortunate result of when parents leave Jesus out of their lives and SELF becomes our god. For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope! God s Word promises His joy and blessing to anyone who will trust him with a simple faith. Abused children often grow up angry, alienated, and afraid to trust God or anyone else. Our social worker guests tell us that the negative cycle usually continues when the child victim becomes an adult. This results in

8 more victimization and a cycle continuing across generations which only God s love can break. Here is where Trinity Broadcasting Network s role in central Mississippi becomes clear. TBN is seen in our state prisons often as the only television option for inmates. This Second Chance Ministry is a great example of how TBN is attempting to change the path of so many lost souls and their families with the saving power of Jesus Christ! We continue beaming out the love of the Savior, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks a year, in support of ministries such as Prison Fellowship, Beginning Again in Christ, Rescue 100, and many others. Jesus is the only answer to the problems of this world! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever!!!
