1 From Toe-Blake Roy - July, 2016 Day 1 Report on the BLF Canada Outreach to Haiti Dear faithful supporters and BLF family, By the grace of God I arrived safely in Haiti yesterday Wednesday. I used the balance of the late afternoon to do last minutes preparations for the theological course on Angels and Demons that started this morning at 8:00 local time and continued until 15:15 this afternoon. We have nearly 100 pastors registered and some pastor s wives who also came with their husband since the kids are now finished school. This was a first for these women and they would like to repeat their experience so they can be a better help to their husband in the ministry. This is a very pertinent topic in Haiti because of it s culture of voodooism. I wish you could have heard some of the stories and question I heard today. A good number of pastors that were there last year are with us this time again on this new course. Last year they had to take notes, but this year, we were table to produce the notes in Quebec and send them ahead of time because of your generous donations. The pastors also asked me today to express their gratitude to BLF Édition for their generous donation of books that will be distributed at the end of the class. Pictures will be coming later when the books will be distributed. I also want to express my gratitude to BLF USA as well who contributed financially for these books. Donors of BLF Canada donated generously to make this trip possible and also making it possible to send some ressources from Quebec like some French bibles, Gospels of John and the notes for the course for every pastor (see them in the picture below proudly showing their course notes). These binders were recycled from Hydro Ontario and they were donated to us through a contact of a supporting church in Oshawa. I want to express my gratitude to BLF Édition for patiently coaching me through a difficult legal procedure with the Haitian custom in receiving this many books from Europe. Thank you Ruben and Bruno for your devotion and guidance through this difficult process. Here are some needs worthy of your prayers that were mentioned to me by these pastors: 1) The pastors would like me to come back every years for the next 5 years to teach a new course. They would like me to teach next time on Finances from the perspective of God. I taught this course (in French) in Ontario, Quebec churches and in Togo Africa. I will certainly be presenting these challenges to our board this coming October. There is also much room for other qualified Bible school teachers from Quebec to come in to teach some other courses to increased the frequency of Bible courses to 5 or 6 times a years. 2) The brothers here are open and ready to operate a radio stations 24/7 to reach their community with the Gospel. This is a place where there is only about 1 and half TV station available so the competition with the radio is not very great. 3) The organizers are preparing to have their Bible courses recognized by the Haitian government. Their biggest hurdle is to have an evangelical library of French books available to pastors. They need a few thousands book titles in French. I am not even sure if there are that many French evangelical books titles available. 4) There is a crying needs here for French tracts, Gospels of John and New Testaments (for evangelism) as well as study Bibles for pastors. Of course, all these are readily available in Quebec and Europe for a price but it is quite out of range in a third world country like Haiti. I was humbled today when I asked someone to turn in a Bible scripture and read aloud for the entire class. The person looked to a few neighbours students to find one near by who had a Bible. Than person does not have a Bible of their own and yet teaches the Word tof God the best he can on Sunday morning from having memorized Bible verses from borrowed Bible. Then I looked around and realized that about 10% of the students I was teaching are in the same situation. Some of them have only a New Testament. Those who have a complete pastor s study Bible are teachers among pastors. And here I was with my lap top and about 30 different versions of the Bible in many languages in my Libronix study program and a projector with an impressive Power Point presentation. Dear friends my heart is crying right now for those faithful brave students who just want to learn the Word of God so they can teach it to their people. What would God want us to do to help them? 3 From Toe-Blake Roy - July, 2016 Day 3 Report on the BLF Canada Outreach to Haiti Good evening to all of you dear friends, I am beyond my 3rd day in my trip but I could not send you the 3rd day report earlier because of a lack of electricity and Internet. I am having quite a challenge sending you some pictures with an internet that is on a dial up and works at the speed of molasses in January. But in any case it is good for my patience. I am always impressed to see my dear brothers and sisters listen attentively and sit on a wooden bench for a whole day and some of them are older than me. I use to think that the mind could only absorbe what the seat could endure, but I will have to revise that approach to church assistance. The day s teaching culminated by a question period regarding the Angels and demons. Some very interesting questions were asked from a culture that is rooted in voodooism. One of the pastor in Port au Prince heard about the seminar and was wondering if I could reteach the course next year to the pastors in Port au Prince. Last year I left quite a few of my courses on a USB key to a pastor and gave him the responsibility to give a copy of the material to other pastors free of charge. I was delighted today when a pastor proudly showed me a paper copy of one of the course note on an other topic and now this is what he is teaching in his church at this time. One need to consider is the ship a good photocopy machine with a reserve of toner cartrages to Haiti that would also service the pastors from the Republic Dominican with course notes rather than photo copy the notes in Quebec and pay for the shipping. May be some church out there is upgrading their photo copier and no longer need their older model???????? I was clearly made aware today that there is a great number of Haitian pastors in the Republic Dominicain that have even less ressources than the pastors in Haiti. A group of pastors have asked my contact in Haiti if I could come a little longer next year and spend half my time in Haiti but then go to Republic Dominicain by car and teach the Haitian pastors there for the rest of the time. Pray for our BLF Canada board as they ponder all of these pressing needs. After the teaching of the day and the question period, it was time to distribute the books from BLF Édition and BLF Canada. Again I want to express my gratitude to BLF USA, BLF Éditions, BLF Canada and our supporters who not only made this trip possible but also made giving away all these ressources possible. 4 From Toe-Blake Roy - July, 2016 Day 4 Report on the BLF Canada Outreach to Haiti Hello to all, On this fourth day in Haiti was Sunday morning. Church started at 8:00 and carried on until 13:30. I was the third preacher after some 2:30 hrs of solid worship. All of the songs were song from memory. No one had a hymnal. Not even the leader. This was quite impressive. After the church service, we had a full meal for everyone. A generous portion of rice, hot sauce, one and half small potato and two fried chicken legs with a bottle of water (see distribution bowls in picture below). I preached in French on the miracle of Jesus ministering to the disciples in the storm. When I came to my room, I had a message waiting for me from home. Mr. André Guitard had passed away. With the help of the church members at home, I am planning a funeral service from Haiti. The funeral is this coming Thursday and I arrive late on Wednesday evening. André was among the first contact we had when we came to Lachute in After some 15 years of ministry with him, he accepted the Lord and was subsequently baptized at our church and then became a church member. André was a 29th degree free Mason. Because he had a very serious heart condition in 1994 he ask his wife to call the new pastor in town and ask him if he could come for a house call. When I came to visit him in the back bedroom of his house he welcome me by showing me his hand gun revolver under his pillow that was loaded and he asked me a simple question. Young man he said what can you tell me from your Bible so I don t have to use this gun on me today? I was very glad as a young missionary that he said me not you. This started a twenty two years relationship and one day I will see my and your spiritual brother praising God for all eternity. I now can say that I have been in ministry long enough to see people give their live to Christ, be baptized, be discipled and become an active church member and I now get to do their funeral service. Please pray for me and Linda as it will be a very emotional day for us. Pray as well for Jaël our daughter who will be signing at the funeral of a man she knew well in our ministry. Pray also for Zak our son in law who is doing an internship with me and he will also be participating for the first time in a funeral service. That is when I understood that La Chapel was not a church but a different region (department) of Haiti. We were expecting some 50 Sunday School teachers and a hand full of Pastors.

Yesterday was a full day of ministry with some pastors and Sunday School teachers in La chapelle. Initially I taught that the one day seminar on teaching methods for Sunday school teachers was going to take place in a church called The Chapel. When we travelled over two hours to our destination in roads that Quebec cows would refuse to walk in, I started to ask questions. That is when I understood that La Chapel was not a church but a different region (department) of Haiti. We were expecting some 50 Sunday School teachers and a hand full of Pastors. What a surprise when I arrived and I saw that the little church that was hosting this gathering was too small to accommodate the 86 people present that had registered plus about 20 organizers and cooks for the event. It was then decided that every participant would walk out with a chair or a bench and set them under a tree in the shade in the church yard. By the time I arrived at 9:00 the group had been praising God for the last hour. We had brought the Sunday school material sent by BLF Éditions. After the seminar, every participant received a certificate and his/her ration of Sunday school material. One pastor expressed his gratitude as follow: The Sunday school material from BLF is an immeasurable treasure for the Haitian people. Everything I taught that day I put on a USB key so every person present could take the material and have it printed so they could reteach it in the regions they came from. I realized in teaching this seminar that BLF Sunday school material is another absolute need in Haiti. If we could have a commercial photocopy machine we could produce the material right here in Haiti and Later for the Haitians churches in the Republic Dominicain. This would be a fraction of the cost. We could also produce some tracts that are in high demand for evangelism. One pastor came to see me to manifest his joy and excitement because I had sent about 100 french tracts with the material BLF Canada had shipped in Haiti and he was fortunate enough to have about 15 tracts. He could not wait until he got back home so he could have 15 tools in his evangelism in his village. Here are a few pictures for your delights. May God bless you richly for your involvement!
