1 Helping the Catholic Church Reach the Unreached in Faith Paulist Evangelization Ministries Powered by the Paulist Fathers 2013
2 Dear Parish Leaders, I am happy to send you this catalogue of handy resources to help you do what God has asked all of us to do reach out to those who are not connected with a faith family. We have two major incentives to emphasize this basic duty we have to share faith with those who are seeking. The Year of Faith began October, 2012 and continues through November, 2013 a year when our Holy Father, Pope Benedict, has underlined for us. He calls us to proclaim, celebrate, and live our faith and we cannot live that faith without committing ourselves to share faith. The second is the Synod on the New Evangelization which was held in October, Three hundred bishops from all over the world gathered to talk about a renewed deepening of faith in Catholics, a more powerful engagement with a contemporary world which often overlooks faith, and a more powerful sharing of faith with others. You will find many resources to respond to these two key events in our Catholic lives. Living the Eucharist, has received tremendous praise from the hundreds of parishes who have used it building faith and discipleship around our experience of the Eucharist. Awakening Faith continues to be a powerful resource to reach Catholics who do not practice their faith. Hundreds of parishes have intensified the welcome of inquirers by using Seeking Christ. In addition, Catholics across the country are learning about Catholic evangelization from our Paulist Comprehensive Evangelization Training course, as well as our evangelization Jump Start Kit for the parish. We are also excited to introduce this year a powerful resource for every parish to concretely reach out to others. Called Neighbors Reaching Neighbors, this resource pack will fill our imaginations with many practical ideas, and provide tools to equip your parishioners to reach out to others. We ve worked over a year to get this parish invitation tool kit ready. I hope you will appreciate its potential to reach those many people who are do not connect with a church or parish today. Many of them are waiting for an invitation! May I ask you to pray that these events will increase the apostolic drive and confidence in our Catholic communities, so that we may respond more completely to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit through the leaders of our Catholic Church. Sincerely in Christ, Frank DeSiano, CSP President Paulist Evangelization Ministries formerly Paulist National Catholic Evangelization Association Our Mission: n to develop effective methods for inviting people to believe in Jesus Christ as Catholics n to invite inactive Catholics to become active again in their faith n to equip Catholics with the tools to further this invitation
