Welcome to Christ Presbyterian Church We re so glad that you re here. We hope that your worship with us today nourishes your spirit and that you will come back to worship with us again. Please be sure to sign the guest pad located at the end of your pew so that we can follow up on your visit with us. For our visitors with children: our Nursery (up to age 3) is open and available to you in our lower level where our caring volunteers are ready to watch over your child. You can worship with peace of mind as you will be given a pager so that you can be contacted immediately should you be needed. Worship Activity Bags and activity sheets are located in the front of the Sanctuary for children to use. An usher is able to help direct you if you need assistance. All children are welcome to come forward for our Children s Message. As today is a Communion Sunday, following the message, children ages 3-5 are invited to follow our teachers out for Preschool Kids Church and can be picked up in the lower level following service. Children kindergarten and older will remain in service today to participate in Communion. Thank you for worshiping with us today. REFLECTIONS & INSTRUCTIONS ON COMMUNION Communion is a time for quiet celebration. Please refrain from talking with neighbors as others are in thankful prayer. Holy Communion is a gift from God to all of God s people. It does not belong to one particular church or denomination. At Christ Presbyterian Church everyone who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is encouraged to come to the table. Appropriate responses to receiving both bread and cup include: Thanks be to God Amen Glory be to God Please silence all electronic devices prior to the service. *At these moments, we invite you to stand in body or spirit. Large print copies of the hymns and orders of worship are available in the Narthex or from an usher.

The Order For Morning Worship Trinity Sunday June 11, 2017 Ten-Thirty O Clock ASSEMBLE IN GOD S NAME Welcome & Worship Notes Call to Worship Leader: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, 2 Corinthians 13:13 the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. People: And also with you. Organ Meditation based on Hymn No. 9 Perichoresis (from Greek: ϖεριχώρησις perikhōrēsis, "rotation") is a term referring to the relationship of the three persons of the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to one another. The term refers to the threefold dance of the Trinity. PERICHORESIS *Hymn in Procession No. 1 Holy, Holy, Holy *Prayer of Adoration (in unison) Holiness, Word, Power, you reveal yourself as one God in three persons, a mighty, creative, life-generating dancer who invites your creation to join you. Catch us up in your love and lead us into your world to call others to follow you with singing and rejoicing. Amen.

Call to Confession Creation displays the glory of God, but our sin keeps us from rejoicing in the love God reveals. Yet Christ Jesus the Son carried our sins to the cross, and the Holy Spirit breathes new life into us so that we can praise God, our Maker, Savior, and life-giving Lover. Let us confess our sins, that we may receive such grace. Prayer of Confession (in unison) Presence, Life, Fire, God who is Three in One, we confess that we have turned away from you. We gaze upon ourselves as if we are worthy of worship. We take your creation into our hands, not to love, but to use and then to discard. We go to people of the land, not to serve, but to press them into our service. We do not deserve that you would even notice us, but we pray for mercy because you are merciful. Flame of Love, purify us from sin; Eternal Now, lead us to your truth; Risen one, baptize us into union with you. Transform us into faithful disciples who worship you alone, God who is Trinity. Amen. (Silence is observed for personal reflection.) Kyrie Hymn No. 577 (sung by all, first in Greek, then English) Lord, Have Mercy (please stand in body or spirit) *Declaration of Forgiveness Leader: The Holy One of Israel, the Redeemer of all the world, and the Holy Spirit who comes as the breath of new life forgets the sins of all who repent. People: We are forgiven, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God. Amen.

*Response to the Assurance of Pardon *Response Mark Schweizer Permission granted: St. James Music Press 2010 *Children are now invited to walk to the chancel steps for the Message.

Please note that stanza 6 continues over to the next page. Following stanza 5, the congregation stands and joins the choir in singing the doxological stanza 6: 6. I bind unto myself the name, the strong name of the Trinity by invocation of the same, the Three in One and One in Three, of whom all nature has creation, eternal Father, Spirit, Word. Praise to the Lord of my salvation; salvation is of Christ the Lord! *Prayer of Dedication (unison) For all that you have given us, we thank you, gracious God. For day and night, evening and morning, for land and sea, for fish and birds, plants and animals, for humankind, and for your Son, who came among us with the gift of life abundant. Let your Holy Spirit abide in our midst and work through our gifts, that all people may have joy and peace, in Jesus name. Amen.

*Invitation to the Lord s Table *The Great Thanksgiving Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them to the Lord. Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Leader: It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, eternal and triune God, whom we worship as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ you spoke the word that brought the world into being. By the Holy Spirit you brought order out of chaos and breathed life into your creatures. In parental love, you stood by us in spite of our disobedience, correcting us with gracious reproof, and welcoming us again into your loving embrace. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with choirs of angels and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name: *Sanctus (sung by all) Thomas Pavlechko Permission granted: St. James Music Press 2008

Leader: You are holy, O God of majesty, and blessed is Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Born of Mary, he came to dwell among us, full of grace and truth. To all who believed, he gave power to become your children. In ministry among your own Jesus cared for all, forgiving their failures, healing their hurts, and nurturing their faith, giving himself in utter sacrifice for those he loved. We give you thanks that the Lord Jesus, on the night before he died, took bread, and after giving thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples saying: Take, eat. This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way he took the cup, saying: This cup is the new covenant sealed in my blood, shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me. Remembering your gracious acts in Jesus Christ, we take from your creation this bread and this cup and joyfully celebrate his dying and rising, as we await the day of his coming. With thanksgiving we offer our very selves to you to be a living and holy sacrifice, dedicated to your service. Great is the mystery of faith: People: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. Leader: Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these your gifts of bread and wine, that the bread we break and the cup we bless may be the communion of the body and blood of Christ. By your Spirit make us one with Christ that we may be one with all who share this feast, united in ministry in every place. As this bread is Christ s body for us, send us out to be the body of Christ in the world. Nurture us at this table, O God, that we may grow to the stature of Jesus Christ. Help us to love you above all else and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, demonstrating that love, in deed and word, toward all your children. Keep us faithful in your service until Christ comes in final victory and we shall feast with all your saints in the joy of your eternal realm. Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, almighty Father, now and forever. Amen. Sharing the Bread and Cup Communion Anthem I am the living bread which came down from heaven; If anyone eat of this bread, he shall live forever. Alleluia. Michael McCabe The Closing Prayer, Prayers of the People, and the Lord s Prayer

And on top of that people who were not able to fill a bag donated over $500 dollars. Thank you seems like such a small thing to say, but that is what I am saying. Thank you to all of you who participated with filling bags, donating money and praying for our project to succeed. In addition the Mission Budget paid for the purchase of 100 fleece blankets and 100 pillows. Congratulations on a job well done! We are still helping Allen School with Box Tops for Education. You will find them on General Mills products, Ziploc, Haines, and Land O Lakes, to name a few. If you go on the Box Tops website there is a list of all products that support Box Tops by printing them on their products. If you use any of these products please cut them out, put them in an envelope marked Box Tops and put them in the collection plate. Please watch the date on the Box Top, they do expire and they will not be accepted. Thank you for your support.

Salt Shakers Salt Shakers has at its creation a simple, SOCIAL purpose of promoting fellowship at Christ Presbyterian Church! All are invited to join in the fun. This is for members and non-members, children, and adults. Everyone who sits in the pew or walks in the door is invited to sign up. Wouldn t it be good to feel you knew more of the people with whom you worship? We are going to join together for a September dinner in small groups. That s it food! All you have to do is sign up at the Kiosk or on line by August 6th. You decide if you want a group to dine out or to eat a potluck dinner at someone s house. You decide if you wish to be in a group that has children or not. The only agenda for these dinners is to meet new people and strengthen our communal fellowship. Before September, Salt Shaker groups of eight will be randomly created from the information you check. Your individual Salt Shaker group will decide on the date and the details. The only agenda for these dinners is to meet new people and strengthen our communal fellowship. We will come together with open minds and hearts in Christ to share in each other s company. We will repeat the process all over again from sign up to selection in October and November! This is an opportunity to get to know each other. Don t miss it. For Wakonda in the City this year we are in need of a source to get large sheets of cardboard (at least 3 x4 ) for a planetarium project we are making, preferably white on one side (though we can always paint it if needed.) If you know of a business that maybe has this as shipping/packaging waste or recycles it but would be willing to let us have it, please let me know. I need a fair amount of it for this super cool project so I thought I would turn to the congregation to see if anyone knows where I could get this. Thanks! Jennie George Saturday, June 17 Sunday, June 18: Church Lock-In 6:30pm on Saturday 10:30 Church Service Please eat dinner in advance; snacks and breakfast provided. *We are also encouraging everyone to sign up for a week at Wakonda. High School students should also consider being a staff assistant and participating in Mission West.

WAKONDA IN THE CITY is going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD! I am thrilled that we are once again offering this wonderful day camp right here at Christ Church! This year's space-themed camp will be Wednesday, July 5th through Friday, July 7th and we are expecting a big group. Our Tiqvah friends will also be joining us for one of our camp days this summer as part of their summer programming! Do you or someone you know have knowledge or skills that could contribute to our space theme? We d love your input! Contact Jennie George to chat about it. WANT TO HELP? Support from our congregation in the following areas is greatly appreciated and needed to make this week a success: Help make lunch in the kitchen Group helpers to assist the counselors and help the kids with activities Donate a snack (prepackaged snacks and juice boxes. We need about 80 per day) Provide a homemade dessert for lunch (peanut-free cookies, brownies, or other handheld item) DONATE! It costs us about $100 a day for each day s lunch. The more we are able to offset that cost, the more we are able to put into programming. Contact Jennie George for more information or sign up at the kiosk. Thank you for your support of WitC.
