It is right to give God thanks and praise. Blessed are You, gracious God, creator of heaven and earth. You have revealed your eternal plan of salvation, and have shown your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be the Light of all peoples. All glory and thanksgiving be to you, Almighty God, for redeeming us in Jesus Christ your only Son, who took our nature upon him, and in obedience accepted death, even death on a cross; who by your power was raised from the dead and exalted forevermore. Glory be to You, O Lord. Therefore with all creation and with all the company of the redeemed, we magnify your glorious name, evermore praising you and singing: Holy, holy, holy Lord. God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full, full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest. (No. 972 Schubert) Wherefore, O God, we set forth before you this holy supper following his command who, the night in which he was betrayed, took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat: This is my body. Who in the same way took the cup, saying, This is my blood of the new covenant. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, to receive all power and wealth, wisdom and might, honour and glory and praise. And now, Almighty God, we pray you to send your Holy Spirit, that the bread which we break may be to us communion in the body of Christ, and the cup of blessing which we bless, communion in the blood of Christ, that being built up in love we may be strengthened by the unity of the faith, and come to the fullness of the stature of Christ.
