BE IT RESOLVED, that this 101 st Annual Convention of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania extend its thanks and gratitude to members of the congregations of St. John s, Franklin; Memorial Church of Our Father, Foxburg; and Christ Church, Oil City for all their labors on behalf of this convention. 2. BE IT RESOLVED, that this 101 st Annual Convention of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania extend greetings and best wishes to the retired clergy and their spouses of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania and to surviving spouses of those clergy who are deceased or who have been unable to attend this 101 st Annual Convention and that a copy of this resolution be sent to them by the Secretary of Convention.

BE IT RESOLVED, that this 101 st Annual Convention of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania express thanks to those friends who have maintained a prayer vigil throughout the proceedings of this Convention. 4. BE IT RESOLVED, that this 101 st Annual Convention of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania recognize significant ordination anniversaries during this year for: John Wesley (40 years); Lawrence Scofield (25 years); Douglas Dayton (20 years); Norman Field (15 years); David Fulford (15 years); Julie Nelson (15 years); Mary Norton (5 years); A. Glenn Williams (5 years); Robert Reed (45 years-diaconate); Georgianna Chango (20 years - diaconate); Charl Kapp (15 years - diaconate); and Bonnie Skellen (15 years - diaconate); and that a copy of this resolution be sent to them by the Secretary of Convention.

BE IT RESOLVED, that this 101 st Annual Convention of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania convey greetings to the clergy and people of the Shenango Presbytery, through its Executive Presbyter David G. Dawson; to the clergy and people of the Kiskiminetas Presbytery, through its Executive Presbyter, Wayne A. Yost; to the clergy and people of the United Methodist Church, Western Pennsylvania Conference, through its resident Bishop, the Rev. Thomas J. Bickerton; to the clergy and people of the Presbyterian Church (USA), Presbytery of Lake Erie, through its General Presbyter, the Rev. David Oyler; to the clergy and people of the American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware, through its Area Minister, Rev. Frank Frischkorn; to the clergy and people of the United Church of Christ, Penn West Conference, through its Conference Minister, the Rev. Alan N. McLarty; to the clergy and people of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie, through its Bishop, the Most Rev. Donald W. Trautman; and to the clergy and people of the Northwest Pennsylvania Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, through its Bishop, the Rev. Ralph Jones.

5 Whereas William Burrows was born on January 23, 1931 in Schenectady, NY, and served in the U.S. Army after graduating from Williams College, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and Whereas he was employed by General Electric, Lord Corporation, and was president of Yates Plastics, and served on numerous boards in the community including St. Vincent Hospital, Erie and the bioethics board of Naples Community Hospital, Naples, and

6 Whereas he was ordained a priest at St. Stephen s, Fairview in 1993, and served in numerous congregations in this diocese, including Grace Church, St. Mary's Church and St. Stephen's Church, and also served numerous congregations as a supply priest in Naples, Florida, and Whereas he died on February 10, 2011, and was survived by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne, and their two children Karen and William, and grandchildren Andrew, Michael, Chelsea, William, and Dustin, Therefore let this convention pause for a moment of silence in his memory and Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to his family.

7 Whereas Barbara Lucille Philipson was born on April 24, 1921 in Grand Rapids, MI, and married the Rev. E. Edward Philipson, following her graduation from the University of Michigan School of Nursing, and Whereas she supported her husband through 38 years of ministry and was a member of the Daughters of the King, and Whereas she died on February 10, 2011, and was survived by her four children, Therefore let this convention pause for a moment of silence in her memory and Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to her family.

8 Whereas Robert Carruthers Martin, Jr., was born on January 16, 1921 in Cleveland, OH, and graduated from Harvard College in 1943 with a degree in Philosophy, and Whereas he married his wife, Louise, in 1944, and was a devoted spouse during their nearly 59 years of marriage, and Whereas he proudly served as a B-24 pilot during World War II, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, five Air medals, and military honors, and Whereas he was ordained to the priesthood in 1951, serving in the Diocese of Southern Ohio and on the staff of the Episcopal Church s Executive Council, and

9 Whereas he served this diocese as the dean of the Cathedral of St. Paul, Erie, and as rector at Christ Church, Meadville, and Whereas he was committed to the plight of the poor and to those whom society marginalized, including involvement in the Civil Rights movement during which he participated in the 1963 March on Washington, and Whereas he died on January 11, 2011, and is survived by the family he cherished, including his three children; their spouses who he considered his own children; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson, Therefore let this convention pause for a moment of silence in his memory and Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to his family.

10 Whereas Marian Bromeley was born on November 22, 1906 in Duke Center, PA, and was a graduate of Bradford Senior High School and Otterbein College, and Whereas she married the Rev. Robert Bromeley on October 19, 1929, and supported him through many years of ministry during their seventy year marriage, and Whereas she was known for her dedication to civic and historical organizations and causes, and Whereas she died on April 8, 2011, and was survived by her son, Therefore let this convention pause for a moment of silence in her memory and Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to her family.

11 Whereas Matthew Ziegenhine was born on November 24, 1982 in Erie, PA, and was a graduate of Central High School and Clarion University, and Whereas he grew up as a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Erie, and was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Paul, Erie at the time of his passing, and Whereas he was an active member of the Youth and Young Adult Commissions, on both the diocesan and provincial levels, and Whereas he attended the diocesan summer camp from elementary school until his graduation from high school, where he asked questions about faith and life that could confound even the prophets, and

12 Whereas he was possessed of an inquiring and discerning heart and shared his unique personality and generous Christian charity with those around him, and Whereas he died on June 7, 2011, and was survived by his parents, James Ziegenhine and the Rev. Canon Kathleen Ziegenhine, and his two siblings, Emily and Benjamin, Therefore let this convention pause for a moment of silence in his memory and Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to his family.

13 Whereas Charles Bud Bracken was born on June 5, 1921 in Corry, PA, and was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and Whereas he was a leader at Citizens National Bank, Marine National Bank, and PNC Bank and was a former president of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, and Whereas he was member of the Cathedral of St. Paul, Erie, and a leader in the diocese, serving as Treasurer and Trustee, and was a driving force during the Venture in Mission initiative, and Whereas he was instrumental in the founding and development of the Erie Community Foundation and of several philanthropic and charitable works in Erie, Corry, and beyond, and

14 Whereas he was faithful in corporate worship and in working, praying, and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God, and was an exemplary Christian gentleman, as well as a mentor and advisor for business, community and church leaders, and Whereas he died on August 12, 2011, and was survived by his wife, Barbara, and their five children, and was interred in the Columbarium of his beloved Cathedral, Therefore let this convention pause for a moment of silence in his memory and Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to his family.

15 Whereas Daniel Duncan was born on December 8, 1948 in Cumberland, MD, and was a graduate of Bedford (PA) High School, served in the U.S. Navy, was a long distance truck driver for 23years, and as a corrections officer brought Christian compassion to those in prison, and Whereas he was a member of Church of the Redeemer in Hermitage, a graduate of the Diocesan School for ministry, and was ordained a deacon in 2002, and

16 Whereas he had served as a deacon at St Matthew's Episcopal Church, Moravia, NY and was serving as a deacon at St. Jude s Episcopal Church at the time of his passing, and Whereas he died on September 10, 2011, and was survived by his wife, the Rev. Janice Duncan, their eight children, 24 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, Therefore let this convention pause for a moment of silence in his memory and Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to his family.
