21 THE CALL TO WORSHIP Hebrews 12:1-3 (RSV)

22 Minister: Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, People: Let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely,

23 Minister: Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, People: Looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith,

24 Minister: Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross People: Despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

25 Minister: Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

26 Prayer of Confession Our Father, we recognize when we pray Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, there are many hidden conditions we have kept in our hearts.

27 We do not want Your will to be done if it involves suffering; we do not want Your will to be done if it involves sacrifice;

28 we do not want Your will to be done if our reputation is at risk; we do not want Your will to be done if it means being placed in a position of deep dependence.

29 We pray You would give us a portion of the humility of our Savior, who, though He was in the form of God,

30 did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant.

31 We praise You, O God, because His humiliation was for our greatest good. Humble us, therefore, that we may also be instruments of Your will. Lord, hear our prayers

46 5 Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired, but a body hast thou prepared for me; 6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings thou hast taken no pleasure. 7 Then I said, Lo, I have come to do thy will, O God, as it is written of me in the roll of the book.

47 8 When he said above, Thou hast neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, Lo, I have come to do thy will. He abolishes the first in order to establish the second.

48 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,

49 13 then to wait until his enemies should be made a stool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,

50 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds, 17 then he adds, I will remember their sins and their misdeeds no more. 18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

54 I ve heard people talk about heaven and describe its beauty so rare. T il, one day, I purchased its title to a mansion in that land so fair. It was given to me without money But, it cost my dear Savior his life. He died on the cross just to save me, For me he paid the great price.
