2 GATHERING CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS The assembly stands. All may make the sign of the cross, the sign that is marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins. Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, who forgives all our sin, whose mercy endures forever. The presiding minister leads the following prayer of preparation. Almighty God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Silence is kept for reflection. Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. The presiding minister announces God s forgiveness with these words. In the mercy of almighty God in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. The service continues with gathering song.

4 PRAYER OF THE DAY The presiding minister leads the prayer of the day. Let us pray. A brief silence is kept before the prayer. Almighty Creator and ever-living God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. The assembly is seated. WORD FIRST READING Isaiah 6:1-8 A reading from Isaiah. 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. 2 Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3 And one called to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. 5 And I said: Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts! 6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out. 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, Here am I; send me! The reading is concluded: Word of God, word of life. The assembly responds: Thanks be to God.

5 PSALM Psalm 29 1 Ascribe to the LORD, you gods, ascribe to the LORD glo- ry and strength. 2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due God s name; worship the LORD in the beau- ty of holiness. 3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; the LORD is upon the mighty waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is a pow- erful voice; the voice of the LORD is a voice of splendor. 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedar trees; the LORD breaks the ce- dars of Lebanon; 6 the LORD makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Mount Hermon like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of the LORD bursts forth in lightning flashes. 8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilder- ness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the LORD makes the oak trees writhe and strips the forests bare. And in the temple of the LORD all are crying, Glory! 10 The LORD sits enthroned a- bove the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king for- evermore. 11 O LORD, give strength to your people; give them, O LORD, the bless- ings of peace.

6 SECOND READING Romans 8:12-17 A reading from Romans. 12 Brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh 13 for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, Abba! Father! 16 it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. 8 NICENE CREED Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed. We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

9 PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION Filled with the Holy Spirit, we join with the church in every place, praying for the world that God so loves. A brief silence. The assembly responds to Merciful God by saying, Receive our prayer. The presiding minister concludes the prayers. By the sure guidance of your Holy Spirit, O God, we lift up our prayers in trust and thanksgiving; through Jesus Christ our Lord. PEACE The presiding minister and the assembly greet each other in the peace of the risen Christ. The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you. OFFERING Today s offering will be added to the offering given at opening worship and will be distributed equally between ELCA Always Being Made New Campaign (ELCA Disability Ministries) & the NWLM Synod Disaster Relief Fund.

11 OFFERTORY PRAYER The assisting minister addresses the assembly. Holy God, gracious and merciful, you bring forth food from the earth and nourish your whole creation. Turn our hearts toward those who hunger in any way, that all may know your care; and prepare us now to feast on the bread of life, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. MEAL GREAT THANKSGIVING DIALOGUE The presiding minister greets the assembly and invites all present to give thanks. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. PREFACE HOLY TRINITY The presiding minister continues: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

13 THANKSGIVING AT THE TABLE You are indeed holy, almighty and merciful God For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the Lord s death until he comes. Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Remembering, therefore, his salutary command To you, O God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory in your holy church, now and forever. LORD S PRAYER Remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 17 SENDING FAREWELL AND GODSPEED Those leaving NWLM this year come forward for a blessing. READING Exodus 23:20 The presiding minister continues with a blessing and prayer for the individuals and then addresses the assembly. Let us pray. Eternal God, we thank you for Sarah and Margie and for the time we have shared with them. As they have been a blessing to us, so now send them forth to be a blessing to others; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. SENDING HYMN ELW 546 To Be Your Presence

18 CLOSING OF ASSEMBLY Jesus said, You will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. I chose you and appointed you to bear fruit which abides. Lo, I will be with you always, to the end of time. Let us pray, Direct us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favor and further us with your continual help, that in all our works, begun, continued, and ended in you, we may glorify your holy name and finally, by your mercy, obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. I now declare this assembly closed in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. BLESSING The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord s face shine on you with grace and mercy.
