We acknowledge that we are gathering for worship on the traditional lands of the First Nations and the homeland of the Metis. 8 In a world fixated on evidence based conclusions it is difficult to speak of God s Spirit. God chooses to be known in the heart and lived out in moments of spontaneous compassion and courage. Today we strive to open our hearts to this Spirit,

9 to welcome its inspiration, to risk being known as fools for Christ. Fill us with your love, show us how to serve, for the sake of the world.

10 Opening Prayer Come to us yet again, O God. Do not allow us to be overtaken by cynicism but immerse us in a hope-filled faith that truly believes in the power of Love, and risks living that Love into community. Renew within us the dream of a world shaped by love and peace, by justice and compassion. For the sake of all, we pray. Amen.

19 We confess that too often we have settled for the status quo rather than living with the imagination of a new world. We confess that we have allowed narrow visions, to constrain our thinking. Discourage us from being simply realistic and give us the courage to dream dreams believing that they can come to be.

20 . Helps us to risk security for possibility, and to set free the radical love that strains against our better judgements. Jesus was a dreamer, help us to follow his Way. Amen.

23 As we work together with him, we urge you also not to accept the grace of God in vain. 2For he says, At an acceptable time I have listened to you, and on a day of salvation I have helped you. See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation!.

29 Being a minority is not easy you stand out as different. Your friends don t understand why you have to miss a Sunday morning golf date or hockey game for church. They may not understand the money and time that you devote to Christian community. You might be thought of as a zealot, or old fashioned, or naïve.

30 Your belief in the way of Jesus might put you on a different side of a political debate, or a social issue, or a racist joke. Increasingly if you wish to be part of the Christian church, the way of Jesus you will likely stick out, perhaps be made fun of, and may even be shunned. Walton, 2004
