3 Announcements Voters meeting next Sunday The quarterly voters meeting will get underway after second service next week. All voting members of Messiah and those eligible to become voters are urged to set aside this time for the Lord s work among us. Non-voters are also welcome to sit in on the meeting and observe. Check your mailbox for the meeting agenda and reports. Home with the Lord Last Sunday the Lord in His mercy called Irmgard Quade, mother of Principal Quade, from this earth to Himself in heaven. The funeral was held at Faith, Markesan, WI last Wednesday. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.They will rest from their labor (Rev. 14:13). What s your idol? When you think of a false god, what comes to mind a statue which people bow before and to which they pray? We may not be attracted to idols like that, but there are countless other false gods which are far more subtle, yet every bit as dangerous to our faith and eternal life. This Wednesday at 7 p.m. we will begin a new Bible study called, Idols We Never Knew We Had. Why not join us? Baptism Sunday Looking Ahead DTuesday: 7:00 P.M: Adult information. Jesus commissions His Church: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19). Jesus told Nicodemus: Unless one is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (Jn. 3:5). By the water and Word of the Sacrament, the Holy Spirit works faith in the heart and gives to the youngest infant forgiveness and eternal life. To encourage parents to bring their children to Jesus in Baptism, we are planning a Baptism Sunday for February 12. Do you know of children who have not been baptized and who do not have a church home? Invite their parents to contact Pastor Eichstadt for more information about Baptism Sunday and the preparations leading up to it. Care packages A signup sheet is on the cupboard doors for items to be included in care packages for our ILHS students. These packages help brighten what sometimes can be a dreary time of year. The deadline is Monday, Feb. 6. Women s retreat Check the poster on the bulletin board for information on the Women s Retreat to be held in Winona, MN, April The retreat is sponsored by Immanuel, Mankato, MN. This year s theme is: Thy Will Be Done. ILC Banquet help request Parents of Immanuel Lutheran High School are currently working on this year s After Banquet Party to be held May 6, We rely on donations from school parents, church members, and local businesses. We are able to buy some prizes, but if you would like to donate a prize, that would be greatly appreciated. Even home baked items or care packages are a great gift idea. 6 Apostles Creed C I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. Offertory I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
