1 January Bible Story Luke 2:39-52 Anchor Point Jesus is God s Son. Requires preparation. Talk With the Teachers Bible Verse God so loved the world that he gave his only Son. (John 3:16) Bible Verse Activity This activity will help reinforce the Bible verse. BIBLE VERSE PICTURE FRAME Supplies: photo of each child, red construction paper, adult scissors, small artificial flowers or light-colored construction paper, marker, glue sticks Take a photo of each child the previous week and print it out. Cut two large hearts from red construction paper for each child. On one red heart for each child, cut a circle near the lower right side for the child s photo. Cut the child s photo just a little larger than the circle opening. On this red heart, write God so loved next to the opening for the photo. It will read God so loved (child in photo). On the other red heart, write that he gave his only Son. Gather small artificial flowers, or cut small flower shapes from light-colored construction paper. Give the child a red heart with an opening for a photo cut out. Invite the child to find his or her photo that you prepared. Turn the heart over, and help the child add glue around the opening. Help place the child s photo face-down on the glue. Make sure the photo will be right-side-up when the heart is turned back over. Give the child the second heart, which has the rest of the Bible verse on it. Invite the child to turn it over and add glue to the back. Help place the heart back to back with the other heart so that the words on both hearts are showing. Turn the heart over so that the child sees his or her picture. Invite the child to glue small artificial or paper flowers to the side of the heart that has the photo. Make sure the flowers don t cover up the words or the photo. 18 Deep Blue Toddlers & Twos Leader s Guide January
