The commission recommended the creation of an "anti-conversion law." 28 January In Kanakagiri, Koppal district (Karnataka state) five Christians were detained and beaten by Hindu extremists. J. Ravi, Lawrence, Williams, Manjula, and James were told by the extremists to either convert or move from the village. 31 January In the Lalgarh district, West Bengal state Hindu extremists vandalized a church and attacked the pastor and members of his congregation.
