4 Trends in the Community Context of the Congregation or Organization Characteristics: Write a description of your community in terms of socio-economic status, demographics, primary areas of employment and lifestyle. The Demographic ZIP Code report for your primary ZIP codes may be helpful. Fayette County Ohio is a south-western farming community with a moderate business base. We are nestled in an area that provides easy access to the Columbus/Dayton/Cincinnati greater metro areas which gives us the ability to have country charm but yet have the offerings provided by a major metropolitan area. This allows for our community to have a diversity in ethnic groups, household incomes, interests and activities. We are blessed with a location that provides beauty in our natural surroundings, especially the close proximity to state parks, nature trails and a host of outdoor activities. Trends: List three changes or trends within the congregation or organization which have occurred in the last three to five years. 1.) Our greatest change has been the Shared Pastor/Priest Ministry begun September 2014 with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Information was presented to the congregation over a period of several months. When voted upon, it overwhelmingly passed. 2.) Due to changes within the ELCA worldwide church policies, we have experienced a slight decrease in weekly attendance. 3.) On a positive note, we are more active in community projects due to our partnership with St. Andrew's. Context: List three ways that the community in which you are located has been challenged by change and transition in the last three to five years. 1.) Biggest change to our community is the problem of drug/heroin use and addiction. 2.) Another change is the increasing poverty base. 3.) Also, the increasing challenges of substantial employment (not minimum wage). Programs: Describe your congregation's or organization's current programs for mission and ministry. Currently, we are involved with our community help center, The Well (an ecumenical group that we share with 30 other local churches); our community Christian-based teen center, The Warehouse; and S.O.C.K.S. program for parents of children at Christmas time. This program provides new gifts for children at Christmas time. This program is in it's 36th year and last year over 400 children were served, giving them 3 gifts each which were selected by their parents. We support our local food pantry, The Fayette County Food Panty, with goods donated by our parishioners. Our congregation supports Lutheran World Relief and Ohio Disaster Relief through the Southern Ohio Synod (SOS). Goals: What are the primary goals of your ministry site (please refer to any Strategic Plan that has been adopted). We are the small church within our community that has an impact in various different ways that makes us known as the "little church that can!" We have a very dedicated group of people that rise to situations when they are brought to light. We are very excited about new possibilities that may come our way through our joint ministry partnership with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Energy: What is your congregation or organization really excited about right now? Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church We are extremely excited and focused on new ministries that may result from our Shared Pastor/Priest ministry with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. We are now engaged with them in all of their pre-existing programs, and focusing on further growth within both churches and community. Partnership: How does this congregation or organization see itself as a member and active participant in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the synod? We support the ELCA and Southern Ohio Synod through our quarterly financial gifts and attendance at synod conferences. We also attend some of the special classes offered from time to time. 12/12/2016 3:04:23 PM Page 4 of 11

6 Purpose, Giftedness and Mission Purpose Giftedness Mission How does this congregation or organization understand its reason for being in the light of God's call to mission and service? Who are you? Why are you here? As believers in the Triune God and members of the Church of Word and Sacrament, we not only need to nourish our members through worship, teaching and fellowship, but also to share the love of Christ through word and deed with all people. We are one of a few liturgical and sacramental based churches within a small community. This gives us a focus to reach out to our community members for them to hear the good news of the gospels in an orderly/structured fashion. What are your gifts and resources for fulfilling this purpose? What are the congregation s or organization's top three assets and how are they being used? Are there obstacles that must be overcome to be able to use these gifts and accomplish the mission? Our gifts are our people of our church! They are able to improvise and overcome obstacles that come our way. With owning our church property and building (debt free), we are able to use our funds for helping in our community. Being good stewards of the funds given us, we are able to provide assets to other missions as they are made known to us. Our people are very generous in giving of their time and talents to others! In light of the way you have described your ministry context in this Ministry Site Profile, what are the top three mission priorities which, if accomplished, hold the most promise for the continued development of this ministry? 1.) The continuation of our shared Pastor/Priest partnership (joint ministry) with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. 2.) The continuation of our established community involvements. 3.) Searching for and developing new mission projects, as well as new members. PART V: COMPLETION OF PROFILE Discernment Process and Adoption Please describe the process used to gather information, formulate responses, and officially adopt this Ministry Site Profile. (Approximately 100 words maximum). Over a period of several months, we canvased our congregation for input and feedback related to our calling of a shared Pastor/Priest to continue our collaboration with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. We have had a Covenant Council in place for the past one and a half years. This council was made up of 6 members from each congregation. Their charge was to come up with plans of action for joint ministry opportunities. The information would then be passed on to each congregation for their approval and participation. We also have held bi-monthly joint Council/Vestry meetings. We would discuss anything related to our sharing of the Pastor/Priest and all joint ministry programs. As the time drew near for the retirement of our shared Pastor/Priest, the committee coordinators from both churches began the joint discernment process of the wants, needs and desires for going forward in our joint ministry. Enter the date on which this Ministry Site Profile was adopted by vote of the Congregation Council or organization's board: 12/9/2016 CALL PROCESS ADMINISTRATOR The name of the person on the synod staff that the bishop has designated as the Call Process Administrator for this call process.
