4 3. Cmpetitin Categries The Dicese f Chichester is planning t celebrate The Year f Prayer this year and in rder t mark this ccasin we are ffering a number f Prayer themed activities fr yu t enjy. One aspect f this is a cmpetitin n the theme f Prayer. It is divided int three sectins: PRAYER thrugh 1 WORD 2 SPACE 3 IMAGE Prayer thrugh Wrd Pupils f all ages are invited t create their wn prayers; written and illustrated. The winning selectin will be cmpiled int a published bk. Prayer thrugh Space Spiritual Quiet Spaces created arund schl (inside r utside) t make rm fr anyne in the cmmunity t be able t take time t pray peacefully, reflect and feel clse t Gd. The winning spaces will receive Gld, Silver r Brnze awards similar t Chelsea Flwer Shw. The finalists will be exhibited n the Dicesan website. Mini spiritual gardens planted in pts. Hw t enter the different Categries Prayer thrugh Space: Spiritual Prayer Garden Plan and create a space/ garden either in schl r utside in rder t create a place that enables prayer and reflectin. It may be a space used by anyne and everyne, r a space fr a particular audience. In the hectic prductivity f schl life, members f the schl cmmunity need time t be still and calm, and draw clse t Gd. This space will enable this! D cnsider making this place a multi-sensry space which encurages thinking and reflectin. Yu culd chse t include pathways f varius textures, use f light and reflectin, scented plants and smewhere t sit. Once created, please send a shrt film clip t (michelle.perry@chichester.anglican.rg) by the clsing date f 23rd May These film clips will be used t select the finalists. A small grup f judges will then bk a time t visit the finalists in rder t cmplete the final judging rund. This will be in a similar style t the Chelsea Flwer Shw. Prayer thrugh Image: Illustrated traditinal prayers Use the published traditinal prayers frm the pack. Each pupil t select ne t illustrate and hand write, using their wn style r calligraphy. They may als chse t include an illuminated letter and illustrated brders. Pupils may chse t include a small pwerful icn/ image that will inspire reflectin and prayer. Cnsider the traditinal mechanisms used by artists t create an icn and the way they wuld indicate imprtance and value t the image by the use f gld, line, image and pattern. Run yur wn schl cmpetitin t select up t 15 beautifully cpied and illustrated prayers n A4 paper. 6 Prayer thrugh Wrd: Pupils wn prayers Pupils t write their very wn prayer n a tpic f their chice. This can als be illustrated in their wn riginal way n A4 paper. The chsen selectin will be published int a bk which will then be used acrss Chichester Dicese by schls and churches t lead prayer and will be available t be purchased. The Judging Criteria Entries will be judged n Creativity Christian spiritual awareness Enabling prayer and cmmunicatin with Gd Visual impact Imaginatin Biblical knwledge/ reference Quality f cmpsitin Dates and deadlines Schls must the cmpleted registratin frm t (michelle.perry@chichester.anglican.rg) by the clsing date f 20 th December This will register yur intentin t enter the cmpetitin. Entries must reach the Educatin Department, Dicese f Chichester, Church Huse, 211 New Church Rad, Hve.
