Roosevelt Heights Church of God in Christ Our Mission: To invoke an atmosphere charged with the manifested presence of God s spirit from beginning to end. Our Goal: To approach God in an attitude of prayer and praise that will usher in the Spirit of Pentecost. This will be realized through: Intercessory prayer before and throughout service in order to condition the hearts of the hearers who receive the Word and become doers thereof. The singing of spiritual hymns and songs during corporate worship, because God inhabits the praises of His people. The anointed Word of God that is able to make thee wise unto salvation. Godly fellowship that will promote wholesome relationships. 4
Sunday Worship Procedure Guide Roles and Responsibilities Program Committee: Assists in developing a program model through which Ministry Leaders can display the diverse ministries of Roosevelt Heights. Thus, inspiring others to seek God about where and how their spiritual gifts may be used to God s glory in ministering at Roosevelt Heights. (See Ministry Opportunities on pages 10&11). The committee will also help develop subtopics from monthly themes. (Refer to Monthly Themes page 8). Sunday Worship Program Coordinators: Coordinate between Program Committee and Program Worship Leaders to ensure that Program is available within 30-minutes of start of program each Sunday. 5
Roosevelt Heights Church of God in Christ Program Worship Leaders: Assist in providing persons to participate in program on designated Sundays. Leaders don t necessarily need to be speakers or participants, but should identify those in one of the ministries in their ministry groups to participate in each part of the program. (Refer to table on page 9 for more details). Group 1 First Sunday Group 2-Second Sunday Group 3-Third Sunday Group 4 Fourth Sunday Group 5-Fifth Sunday Program Participants- Members who are asked to participate during the Sunday Worship program. Participants are contacted by their Worship Group leader who will identify the role they re requested to play. (See Program Guidelines and Format on page 7). 6
Sunday Worship Procedure Guide Rules and Guidelines Ministry leaders and program committee members are approved by the Pastor. When in doubt, ask the Pastor or his designee. Program participants are expected to adhere to these guiding principles: Be accountable and responsible. If you re unable to fulfill your commitment, let the person in charge know at least a week in advance, if possible. Be prepared and prayerful. Attend corporate prayer the morning of the program. Arrive at church at least 30-minutes before the start of service. Preferred Program Format and Time Limit: Prayer Scripture Reading Praise/Worship (targeted time 15 minutes or as the spirit dictates.) Welcome- Featured Ministry-5 minutes Theme Speaker (One person from any of the ministry groups, 10- minute limit) Offering Choir Selection (s) *Sermon Special services may be altered to accommodate the emphasis of the service such as communion or Christmas programs. It is important to be mindful of the time of each participant. *The Sermon is the main focus. Therefore the messenger should be put up to speak as early as possible in order to minister and preach; prayer, sermon, altar call, etc. 7
Roosevelt Heights Church of God in Christ Core Values for Worship Leaders: There are many core values leaders should consider. Pastor urges leaders of Worship to embrace certain core values that will equip them to successfully minister: Prayer- Open your heart to allow God s involvement in every aspect of your ministry. Servant Leadership-Have a sincere concern for people, and a willingness to be accountable as you equip and inspire others to use their gifts in the body of Christ. Team Ministry- Work together for the good of the body as a whole, using your individual gifts. Proactive Response to Change-Be creative and flexible in your method of ministry, but always maintaining the message of Christ. Intentionality-facilitate the implementation of systems to prepare, connect, and equip people for ministry inside and outside the walls of the church. 8
