1 Franklin First Baptist Church Franklin, Indiana November 2014 Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is upon us! As we enter the Holiday Season, let us all take time to give thanks for all the wonderful gifts God has bestowed upon us. And to pray for those less fortunate, that they may also be blessed. Below are details on local Thanksgiving functions! Thanksgiving Services We will be having our Thanksgiving Service at our normally scheduled meeting time of 10AM on Sunday, November 23. The Johnson County Ministerial Association will be having a Community Thanksgiving Service that same evening at 7PM at Trafalgar Christian Church. Johnson County Thanksgiving Banquet The Johnson County Thanksgiving Banquet is on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27 from 11 AM 2 PM. This is a free sit-down dinner, no standing in line, with all the fixin s! A wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving not just with your family, but members of our community as well. They are working on getting Santa there, too! There is information in the next page on how you can help!

2 Pastor s Corner November 2014 The month of November is a time to be thankful. While we should be thankful all year long, it is good to have a time of celebration. Thankfulness recognizes that God blesses us and provides for us. It lifts the burden from our lives that we have to do everything ourselves. In what ways has God surprised you, or in what ways have you been made aware of the everyday blessings that God provides? When we say grace, pray before a meal, we acknowledge that ultimately it is by God s provision that we have what we have. In many ways it is a partnership. We work and make good use of what comes our way but it is amazing that when we add faith to the process what a difference it makes. Sometimes the blessings of our lives come as we put forth effort and sometime in spite of our efforts. Remember how you feel when someone thanks you for something you have done and remember to do the same for God. Thankfulness doesn t change God because His love is a constant in our lives, but it does change us. Thanksgiving Banquet Help The Thanksgiving Banquet Board still welcomes more members who are willing to do the prep work prior to and on Thanksgiving Day. The banquet is on Thanksgiving Day from 11 AM 2 PM. Right now, they are still hoping to raise funds through donations to purchase food. There will be a sign-up sheet in the coffee fellowship area on the podium, after Sunday November 2, for those who can make desserts and those who can transport them to Scott Hall at The Johnson County Fairgrounds.. See Nan McCay for more details. Please spread the word about this banquet, especially to those in need! Please think of donating to this wonderful program!

3 Thank you to all FBC members who participated in the CROP Walk! Robin Bratton, Bill Bridges, Homer Ford, Karen Friend, Carolyn Hood, and Nancy Patton used their feet on the three-mile walk. Many others from our congregation joined the effort with prayer and financial support. FBC raised over $1,000 to help feed the hungry in our community and around the world! (The Johnson County CROP Walk total has not yet been tabulated.) October s World Mission Offering In October, we collectively contributed $ towards the World Mission Offering s Rise to the Challenge campaign to raise money for missionaries abroad. Half of what we raised went to help support our missionaries in Thailand, The Witmers! Thank you all so much for helping this wonderful mission! GROW IN FAITH; GO OUT TO SERVE

5 Camp Tippy New Dining Hall Dedication Saturday, November 22 beginning at 2:00 pm. All are welcome!! CHILE MISSION ENCOUNTER 2015 April 23- May 8 You are invited to be a part of a mission team of individuals traveling to Chile to support and encourage Dwight and Barb Bolick and to partner with them in ministry. The dates are from 4/23 5/8. The cost for this 16 day mission experience is $3, per person and includes round trip travel and expenses from Atlanta, GA. FBC will be offering Dave Ramsey s Financial Peace University starting Sunday, January 18th. It will be a 9-week course, led by Pastor Ford, offered in the evenings. The cost of the materials is $100, but the Leadership Board has made funds available for scholarship assistance for those who might need help with that cost. If you would like to learn more about him, there are a lot of resources online, including videos on YouTube, and at his website, daveramsey.com. Grief Support Southport Baptist will be offering GriefShare beginning Friday, September 12, with weekly meetings on Fridays from 6:30 8PM. Classes are free but there is a $20 charge for the workbook.
