We are so grateful for the thoughts, the prayers, the cards, the pictures, the lovely gifts and the very generous monetary gifts. You all touch our lives in so many ways. We are blessed to have such a kind and thoughtful church family. We look forward to the great things God is doing through White House First United Methodist! 2 The United Methodist Women Naomi Circle met January 8 th, 2018 with 15 members present. Kristie Poole opened with a devotion from our prayer calendar. Our theme for the year is Sacred Spaces: Encounters with God and Neighbor. David Cowan, our youth minister, was our guest speaker. He told us about his calling into the ministry. He has been a Christian and felt God s calling from a very early age. We are very fortunate to have David at White House First United Methodist Church. He gave a very interesting and inspiring talk. Ann Boone told us about our Reading Program. It encourages members to think critically about current issues (whether you agree with this particular concept or not) through an annual selection of member-reviewed books. Reading these books leads to actions in missions. It increases our sensitivity to all human beings. It helps us grow in understanding of the scripture as it relates to Christian faith in contemporary life. It enhances our knowledge and strengthens our involvement in local and global Christian mission. Several of our unit officers will be attending an officer training February 10 th at John Wesley United Methodist Church. We will be leaving church at 7AM if you want to carpool. Please let Kristie or Bethel know your preferred transportation. The Loose End Circle continues to meet every Thursday from 1 to 3 PM. They, as well as the Naomi Circle, would like to have you join them when you can. If you don t crochet, you can learn, you can do it from home, or you can come just for the fellowship. Presently, this group is making hats and scarfs for children and adults. They are focusing on increasing the number of preemies and baby hats for NICU. If you have some crochet piece you would like to work on, Patsy Delange, the leader of this group, has patterns and will be glad to help you get started. Her number is The United Methodist Women (UMW) is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Our vision is turn FAITH, HOPE and LOVE into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world. All women are invited to join us the second Monday of each month!

3 UTH United Through Him The Youth Ministry of WHFUMC Well hello! I am very excited to let y'all know a little bit about what is going on with the youth! First, I want to just say thank you for your support. It makes my job so much better when I know that we are surrounded by a loving community. I especially want to mention how amazing my volunteers are! I couldn t do what I do without them! With that being said, we can always use volunteers so if you would be interested in volunteering in any way, please let me know. A great way to volunteer is to cook meals on Sunday nights! If you, your Sunday school class, or just a group of people would be interested in cooking a meal for the youth, I have a sign-up sheet on my office door for the Sundays we will be having youth this semester so you can sign up there or let me know. Finally, I am very excited to announce that the youth group will soon be heading to the Opryland hotel for Warmth in Winter 2018! Please be in prayer for those attending that weekend, Feb. 9-11, that we might experience God in a new way and have a fun, safe trip! Thanks again for all your love and support. God bless!
