2 WORLD HISTORY UNIT 4" " " " " " " " " " " NAME UNIT 4 - RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD: STUDENT TEACHING OUTLINE You and your group are going to have 5-15 minutes to teach the class about your religion. You can use any method of teaching you like, quiz, talk show, lecture, play, news broadcast, movie, activity, etc. This is for a formative grade. You will be assessed on the following elements: Presentation - 40% - More than 5 minutes, less than 15 minutes - All group members must talk, - You must be clear and loud enough to be heard by all students. - You must be organized with your delivery - i.e. I donʼt want to see people in the middle of the presentation saying shh no this is my part...no il read this... What does this say... Etc - It must be engaging... Remember what worked and what was boring when we did the last presentations - therefore if you are doing ppts - no more than 3 short point per slide, LOTS of pictures, color scheme, diagrams etc, DON T read directly from the slide - put a little point down and then expand upon it when you present. - Time management - PRACTICE!!! Make sure you are within the time, also remember how long it takes students to write things down. Your classmates will be entering the information about your religion into their chart so you must allow them time to do that, and not get angry that they "" are writing too slowly. - Body language - DONʼT slouch, or look bored when you are lecturing - Tone - try and seem interested and enthusiastic when you are talking. If you have a monotone voice and look bored, more than likely other students will switch off and stop paying attention. Content - 60% - Your presentation must enable the students to complete all elements of their chart while your presentation is in progress. - Your presentation must also allow them to fill out their religion map. - You must be prepared to answer simple questions that relate to the religion, and explain answers to the sections in the religions charts. Just try and remember where you went wrong in your last presentation, what could you have done to improve? I will be far less generous grading this presentation than I was your last presentation, as this is your second time presenting I expect improvement and a solid presentation from all groups. DONʼT rely on your team mates to be in school the day of the presentation - therefore saying that Jane is not here today and she has all the information is not a valid excuse. You all must have the information in order to present. You will also need to fill out a peer evaluation form to explain how each team member performed and contributed to the presentation. This form is totally confidential and will only be read by me, so be honest as it may effect your grade. On the back of this brief I want you to write down your plan - what is each team member doing? When will you be preparing it? What do you hope to get done by Friday? PRESENTATIONS WILL BEGIN THEREFORE YOU HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO PREPARE EXCELLENT PRESENTATIONS
