4 Camp Allegheny Women s Retreat: August 25 27, Theme: Hope for Your Heart. The Women s Retreat is a weekend designed to let women refresh and renew their walk with the Lord. It is filled with praise and worship, a wonderful speaker, great meals, and plenty of fun free-time activities. Highlights include a watermelon slurp, hay ride, and a beautiful candlelight service. Dr. David Hampson played many rounds here while serving as pastor at Galloway UM Church where he served for 15 years. 7 Ruck the Bay is a 15K Military-Style Ruck March/Walk in honor of our local fallen heroes and to end Veteran homelessness. It will take place on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 with Registration at 1 pm with the Ruck starting at 2 pm at Presque Isle State Park, Beach 11, Erie. Online registration will begin in early July. Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliance s (EUMA) Liberty House, the only transitional housing program in Erie County specifically for homeless Veterans. The house is a safe haven for the men who protected our freedom and are now in need of a new beginning. Ruck the Bay participants will complete the 15K (or optional 5K) carrying a loaded rucksack/backpack, and will observe memorials at every kilometer honoring those who have lost their lives in service to our country. Participants are encouraged to fill their rucksack with items to donate to Liberty House (such as men s hygiene products, paper products, laundry and cleaning supplies, linens and blankets, towels, etc.) Drop-off boxes to unload your donations will be located at the finish line. 9 RELIGION AND RACE ANNOUNCES 2017 CORR ACTION FUND GRANT: The General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR), The United Methodist Church's racial justice agency, announced that the CORR Action Fund (CAF) will be releasing the United States Program Grants for with $750,000 in available funding. Deadline in August GCORR is seeking to fund innovative and bold initiatives that will support vital conversations about race, cultural diversity, xenophobia, and systemic equity. UMC churches and other UMC entities in the United States are invited to apply for funding to disrupt racism and xenophobia by working with a community partner or alliance.
