Date June 4, 2013 LESSON 3 The Power of Your Words Scripture - Matthew 12:33 37 (NKJV) Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. Chapter 8 - Acknowledgment Thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus - Philemon 6 I acknowledge that whatever I ask the Father in Jesus name, He will give it to me. (See John 16: 23.) I acknowledge that greater is he that is in [me], than he that is in the world (1 John 4: 4) Chapter 9 - The Two Confessions Confessions of Faith Confessions of Unbelief Our faith or unbelief is determined by our confession. After I had finished praying for one woman the other morning, she was satisfied that she was perfectly healed, but now the symptoms have returned and her heart is disturbed. She wonders where the difficulty lies. We unconsciously go down to the level of our confession. Every person who walks by faith will have testings. They do not come from the Father; they come from the Adversary. But as long as he can confuse the issue and keep you in a state of flux, you are at a disadvantage. Chapter 10 - The word confession, in the Bible, 1. Is affirming what God has said in His Word. 2. It is witnessing to the Word s declaration. 3. It is testifying to truths revealed in the Book.
What is confession? Confession is saying what God has said in His Word about a certain thing. It is agreeing with God saying the same thing the Scripture says. To hold fast your confession is to say what God has said over and over until the thing desired in your heart and promised in the Word is fully manifested. The penalty for wavering in our confession is that we deny ourselves God s promise and the performance of it. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth (go back and forth) let not that man think he shall receive any thing of the Lord (James 1: 6 7) What This Should We Affirm Constantly? 1. God is who He says He is. 2. I am who God says I am. 3. God can do what He says He can do. 4. I can do what God says I can do. 5. God has what He says He has. 6. I have what God says I have. Chapter 11 - Our Conversation What you speak is who you are. You will find it difficult to rise above that mental attitude. We are to confess what we are in Christ. Men of the senses will not understand us. To confess that you are redeemed, that your redemption is an actual reality, that you are delivered out of Satan s dominion and authority, would be a daring confession to make. To confess that you are an actual new creation created in Christ Jesus, that you are a partaker of the very nature and life of Deity, would amaze your friends. It isn t confessing it once, but daily affirming your relationship to Him, confessing your righteousness, your ability to stand in His presence without the sense of guilt or inferiority. Chapter 12 - Be Your Own Faith Builder When we listen to what other people have to say without examining those things by the Word of God we are setting ourselves up for failure. 1. You are building your own faith, for faith cometh by hearing the word[ s] of God (Romans 10: 17). 2. I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. 3.. I am what He has made me to be a new creature. 4. I will not belittle myself, for I am in Christ, and in Christ I have been granted new life. The old life is gone.
5. I am a citizen of a new kingdom. My citizenship is in heaven. Chapter 13 - Faith s Confession It confesses that we have the money before it has arrived. It confesses perfect healing while pain is still in the body. It confesses victory while defeat still holds it captive. Your confession is based upon the living Word. I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is not only able to make good, but He is making good now in my case (2 Timothy 1: 12) Faith Confession Vs. Confession of Faith The Word is called the Word of Faith Romans 10:8 (NKJV) But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): With His strips we are healed Faith Confession 1 Peter 2:24 With His strips I am healed Confession of Faith A doubting heart is a sense-ruled heart, but a fearless confession comes from a Word-ruled heart Luke 17:11 19 (NKJV) Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us! 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, Go, show yourselves to the priests. And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner? 19 And He said to him, Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well. 1. All ten lepers believed the Words spoken to them by Jesus. 2. They acted on what Jesus spoke to them to do and they did it 3. While they were on their way to the priest their healing manifested 4. The priest confirmed the words spoken to them by Jesus and their faith in what Jesus said to them. 5. Going to the priest was not necessary for their healing; it was necessary to be in compliance with the Law of Moses. Note: God will override the natural laws of nature for His will to be done but He will not override the laws of the land unless those laws are contrary to His.
Chapter 14- Walking with God by Agreeing with God To agree with God is to say the same thing God says in His Word about salvation, healing, answer to prayer, and an overcoming life To walk with God, I disagree with the Devil. Jesus did this by boldly declaring it is written. I resist the Devil by the Word Note: Do we have enough It is Written in our spiritual vocabulary to resist the Devil? Chapter 15 - Realization Follows Confession Proverbs 6: 2 says, Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth. We walk in the light of our testimony our faith never goes beyond our confession The Word becomes real only as we confess its reality When you talk of your doubts and your fears, you destroy your faith Prayer is never for the possible, but always for the thing that is out of reason and our of reach Chapter 16 - Don t Say I Can t When God Says You Can The phase I can t is nowhere in the Bible Harmonize with heaven by affirming God s Word. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Chapter 17 - The Value of Confession Satan fears our testimony not you the man being He either fears what comes out of you or he rejoices for what comes out of you. If you confess something with your mouth, it reacts upon your heart or your spirit. When we confess His Word, He watches over it to make it good, but there is no action on the part of God without our confession. Thinking faith thoughts and speaking faith words leads the heart out of defeat into victory. No word from God shall be void of power (Luke 1: 37 asv). Chapter 18 - What I Am Not 1. I am not sick, for my Lord heals me of all my diseases (Psalm 103: 3). 2. I am not bound, for the Son has made me free (John 8: 36). 3. I am not defeated, for I m more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me (Romans 8: 37).
4. I am not weak, for the Lord will give strength unto his people (Psalm 29: 11). 5. I am not without power, for ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1: 8). 6. I am not without peace, for being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5: 1). Chapter 19- Wrong Confession Whenever the word confession is used, we unconsciously think of sin. It is not confession of sin. It is a confession of our knowing that God s Son died for our sins according to Scripture, and that the third day He was raised again. (Rom. 10:9) Christianity is our confession. Hebrews 4: 14 says, Let us hold fast our confession (asv). What is our confession? 1. God is our Father, that we are His children, 2. We are in His Family. 3. Our Father knows what our needs are and has made provision to meet every one of them. 4. The finished work of Christ, of what I am in Him, and what He is in me. Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. Don t try to believe; just act on the Word. Don t trust in other people s faith have your own. Do your own believing. Chapter 20 - What You Can Do Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart (Psalm 37: 4 Confess aloud your affirmations. Make it personal to your own life. Chapter 21- What I Confess, I Possess The law of that confession is that I confess I have a thing before I consciously possess it. Philippians 4: 6 7: In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus (asv). Why must prayer be made with thanksgiving? That means that I know the thing is done. I asked for it, and now I have it, so I thank the Father for it. We say thank you after the act is done.
You have learned, in whatever circumstance or condition you find yourself, to rejoice in your continual victory Philippians 4:10 13 (NKJV) (The Philippian s Generosity) But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
