1 Week 1: a new spirit Did you know that God lives inside you? Isn t that cool? In the Bible, Jesus promises us that if we love Him and follow the instructions He has given us, He will send us a Helper who will live inside us and never leave us. Many of us know this Helper by His name, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has many different jobs. Here are just a few: He encourages us when we are sad. He celebrates with us when we are happy. He guides us when we are lost. He helps us to know the difference between good and bad. He gives us different gifts. He teaches us about Jesus. He brings us closer to Jesus and God the Father. This is quite a big list, and it s only the beginning of what the Holy Spirit can do! The Holy Spirit is available to anybody on the planet who loves Jesus. Can you think of anyone who might like to receive the help of the Holy Spirit? FAMILY TIME Talk as a family about these questions: 1. Who is the Holy Spirit? 2. What are some things that you have learnt about the Holy Spirit from the Bible? 3. Talk about some of the times the Holy Spirit has helped you. DID YOU KNOW? Could your family be the 200th? PAUSE F PRAYER 1. Give thanks that God has sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper. 2. Pray that many people overseas will hear the story of Jesus and will know that God loves them. 3. Give thanks that The Holy Spirit gives us all special gifts....but if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is truly in our hearts. God has given us His Spirit. That is how we know that we are one with Him, just as He is one with us. 1 John 4:12-13 (CEV)

3 Week 2: a new perspective Have you ever played with playdough? When you first hold a ball of playdough in your hands, there are so many things that it could be! A flower, an animal, a person, anything really! But the playdough doesn t just turn into a beautiful shape on its own. You have to squish it and squash it, flatten it and stretch it, squeeze it and twist it, roll it and press it. Sometimes we can be a little bit like God s playdough. God uses the special times we spend with Him to shape us into the loving people He created us to be. God wants to squash out all the bad things that we have been doing, and fill us up with good things instead. God is squashing and filling us: Every time we pray and talk to Him. Every time we read the Bible. Every time we talk to someone about Jesus. Every time we follow the instructions Jesus has given us. As we do all these things God can change the way we think, feel and act towards Him, and towards others. Isn t that cool? FAMILY TIME Talk as a family about these questions: 1. What are some of the ways Jesus wants us to be more like Him? 2. I wonder what things God wants you to change? 3. How does spending time with God change the way you think, feel or act? DID YOU KNOW? The first NZBMS missionary was Rosalie MacGeorge. Rosalie traveled to South Asia by ship and was at sea for at least four weeks before finally arriving at her new home. PAUSE F PRAYER 1. Give thanks that God loves you and always wants the best for you. 2. Pray that God will help you to become more like Jesus in the way you think and act. 3. Pray that our friends overseas will be changed by God too. Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please Him and be truly holy. Ephesians 4:23-24 (CEV)

5 Week 3: a new generation Do you find it easy to talk to your friends about Jesus? Sometimes it can be tricky to think of the right things to say, but that doesn t mean we should keep quiet. Whenever we want to share the stories of the Bible to our friends and family, we should remember that the Bible says, Jesus Christ never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever Hebrews 13:8. That s great but what does it mean? When we grow older, we go through a lot of different changes; the way we look changes; the things we like to do change; even the food we like changes! But God isn t like that. God stays the same no matter what happens. The God we read about in the Bible the God who spoke to Moses from a burning bush; the God who told Noah to build the ark; the God who was with David when he defeated Goliath is the same God that we pray to today; and will continue to be the same God forever. So when we tell our friends about the stories of the Bible, we must remember that the God that was present in those stories, is still with us now. That s pretty cool! Another way to help you tell others about Jesus is to pray. God loves it when we talk to Him about others. For thousands of years, people have prayed to God, asking Him to help those they love and care for. You yourself might be an answer to someone s prayer! It is important that we keep praying for other people so that God can make good changes in their lives. FAMILY TIME Talk as a family about these questions: 1. Why is it good that God never changes? 2. What are some Bible stories that you like sharing with friends? 3. Why does God like it when we pray for others? DID YOU KNOW? At least thirteen different languages are spoken amongst our NZBMS team. How many can you speak? PAUSE F PRAYER 1. Pray that God will give you the right words to say when you talk to your friends about Jesus. 2. Give thanks that God is always the same and that His love for you will always be the same. 3. Pray that God will make good changes in the life of someone you care for....we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders...
