INTRODUCTION By opening this Go Guide, you are taking the very first step toward making an eternal difference in the world. As a church, we have embraced Jesus Great Commission (Matthew 28:16 19) and have accepted God s call to cross-culturally share the Gospel. We do this with a global ministry focus on three specific areas: At-risk children Marginalized families Creative church planting This means we partner with organizations that allow us to roll up our sleeves and help: Prevent the exploitation and trafficking of children Provide food, housing and nurturing environments to street orphans Assist families in crisis due to poverty or natural disaster Creatively launch new churches in places in need of the Gospel We believe a short-term mission is one of the Christian life s most worthwhile experiences. We re so passionate about missions that we want everyone at PAC to be involved. Team members returning from the field often say, I volunteered my time to show Jesus love to others, but I was the one who was truly blessed. We want you to experience that gift firsthand. This year we are delighted to offer you 15 mission opportunities. As you consider the range of destinations, we believe you will find there is something for everyone: young or old, families or individuals, stateside or overseas. Please prayerfully consider the types of ministries that touch your heart because that is likely where God wants you to serve. When your heart is aligned with His, incredible things can happen. If you have questions about the short-term missions described in this guide or about PAC s Missions Ministry, call x20, or us at missions@princetonalliance.org. See you on the field! 3
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO It takes faith to respond to God s call to serve Him. It takes humility to set aside personal comforts and agendas on behalf of your team. Keep the following in mind as you consider where God wants you to serve this year: 4 Start by completing the 2015 PAC Short-term Mission Application online at princetonalliance.org/missions. Candidates cannot be considered without first submitting the application. A $100 deposit must accompany the application. The deposit indicates your commitment to serve and is applied toward your trip expense. Credit or debit cards are accepted online. If you prefer to pay by check, call the church office at x16 for a payment code to use online. The deposit is refundable only if PAC is unable to provide a position on a team. Candidates under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who takes legal and spiritual responsibility for the minor on the field. A notarized release form is required if the adult is not the parent or legal guardian. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be notified of your status and subsidy eligibility. Space is limited, and teams fill up quickly, so apply early. Those who attend PAC are eligible to apply for a 50% subsidy on their first-ever PAC short-term mission. Thereafter, PAC family members may apply for a 25% subsidy for their first mission each year. Participation on subsequent same-year missions is at full cost. Those who do not attend PAC are not eligible for subsidies. Team members are responsible for the cost of the trip (minus any subsidy that may apply). You can raise financial support toward mission expenses through contributions from family and friends. These gifts honor a team member but support the overall team because contributions to named individuals are not tax deductible. If you raise more individual support than is required, that overage supports the team and is not refundable. If the total team support exceeds the team budget need, the overage offsets the team s subsidy provided by PAC. Team members will not be refunded the overage amount. We re looking forward to your involvement this year. Questions? Visit princetonalliance.org/missions, or missions@princetonalliance.org.
MISSION DESTINATIONS STATESIDE PAC is offering two stateside opportunities this year. Both are short-term experiences in Pennsylvania. One is for middle school students and the other is for high school students. Johnstown, Pennsylvania Serving marginalized families Crucified Ministries Dates: August 9 14, 2015 Team Composition: Middle School students (6th 8th grade) Leader: Pastor Sean McLain Join us as we spend six days serving families in need in rural western Pennsylvania. As we partner with Johnstown-based Crucified Ministries, we ll support its goal of taking the church and its message of hope to those who haven t experienced the love of Jesus. Ministry opportunities for this mission may include daily children s Bible clubs in housing projects, construction projects on larger buildings as well as individual homes of marginalized families, nursing home visitation, prayer walks, and various outreach activities in the Woodvale area of Johnstown. Our team will also be involved in Crucified Ministries two primary mechanisms for sharing the Gospel: Life Over Death Skatepark (aka, The Warehouse) A free skatepark for those willing to hear God s Word shared at the end of each skate session. (This has developed into a church for many local teens.) Crucified Worship Center A ministry center offering Sunday evening services and small groups specifically designed for those who may not feel welcome or comfortable in a traditional church setting. The team will travel by van from PAC to Johnstown and stay in lodging provided by our ministry partner. Meals will be prepared onsite. Cost: $480 ($360 if eligible for PAC student subsidy) Includes meals, lodging and transportation Questions about this mission? students@princetonalliance.org. 5
MISSION DESTINATIONS STATESIDE Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Serving marginalized families Group Mission Trips Dates: July 5 10, 2015 Team Composition: High School students (9th 12th grade) Leader: Pastor Josh Dean PAC is offering our high school students the opportunity to participate in a Week of Hope, sharing Jesus love with the greater Pittsburgh community. Working in small groups, we ll participate in a variety of projects with a relational focus including serving those who don t know Christ at homeless shelters, soup kitchens and nursing homes. Group Mission Trips, founded in 1976, creates mission experiences where the next generation encounters Jesus. The lessons learned during this week of service is sure to change the heart and worldview of each teen who participates. Cost: $480 ($360 if eligible for PAC student subsidy) Includes meals, lodging, transportation and ministry supplies Questions about this mission? students@princetonalliance.org. 6
MISSION DESTINATIONS ABROAD PAC is offering 13 international mission trips this year. Locations are diverse, as are the ministry opportunities on the field. Brazil Serving at-risk children Hope Unlimited International Date: May 1 May 10, 2015 Team Composition: Individuals and families Leader: Pastor Joel Koenigsberg Date: August 14 23, 2015 Team Composition: Adults Leaders: Pastor Dawie Koekemoer & Alex Chang Date: October 30 November 8, 2015 Team Composition: Individuals and families Leader: To be determined This year PAC has planned three mission experiences in Brazil. Each offers a wide variety of opportunities. Some are hands-on such as painting or physical care of facilities, while others are relational and involve engaging with house parents and children, showing the love of Jesus in simple ways. PAC and Hope Unlimited have been partners in ministry in Brazil for over 20 years. Hope Unlimited rescues street children from a life of poverty, abuse and exploitation. Since its founding in 1991, thousands of at-risk children have completed Hope s residential programs. It also serves graduates in transition homes and their families through outreach programs. Approximately 85% of Hope s graduates are in stable living situations, meaningfully employed and active in a local church. Cost: $2,600 ($1,950 if eligible for PAC subsidy; $1,300 for eligible first-timers) Includes airfare, meals, lodging, transportation and ministry supplies Questions about these missions? missions@princetonalliance.org. 7
MISSION DESTINATIONS ABROAD Dominican Republic Creative church planting C&MA Envision Santiago Date: May 2 9, 2015 Team Composition: Men Leader: Chuck Spencer Date: May 16 23, 2015 Team Composition: Individuals and families Leader: To be determined Date: June 27 July 4, 2015 Team Composition: Individuals and families Leader: Pastor Shaun Sass The Santiago Experience is hosted by Rick and Tammie Romano, PAC s ministry partners in the Dominican Republic. Rick and Tammie work closely with the National Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance building bridges and planting churches in the Northern District of the country. The focus of all three of this year s missions to the DR is to support the ongoing work of local pastors and churches in Santiago. Team 1 will engage in construction of a church building. This laborintensive mission will include heavy lifting, so keep that in mind. Team members will be plugged into different stages of construction depending on skill and experience. Teams 2 and 3 will focus on ministering to children through Vacation Bible School, serve on church construction teams and bring relief to marginalized families. The team may also be given the opportunity to serve at the Connection Café, a newer ministry initiative in Santiago where nationals practice speaking English in a casual, comfortable environment. Cost: $1,500 ($1,125 if eligible for PAC subsidy; $750 for eligible first-timers) Includes airfare, meals, lodging, transportation and ministry supplies Questions about these missions? missions@princetonalliance.org. 8
MISSION DESTINATIONS ABROAD Exuma Serving marginalized families Starve Poverty Date: October 31 November 7, 2015 Team Composition: Adults and families Leader: Andy Thompson Exuma is an island of contrasts. While its residents include some of the very wealthy (including a few celebrities), the majority of the population lives significantly below the poverty level often in homes without indoor plumbing or electricity. There are approximately 500 school-aged children on the island, most of whom have single mothers and few of whom personally know Jesus. This team of adults and families will take on a construction project and provide Vacation Bible School for children. Cost: $1,400 ($1,050 if eligible for PAC subsidy; $700 for eligible first-timers) Includes airfare, meals, lodging, transportation and ministry supplies Questions about this mission? missions@princetonalliance.org. 9
MISSION DESTINATIONS ABROAD India Creative church planting Serving at-risk children C&MA International Ministries Date: April 10 19, 2015 Team Composition: Individuals and Families Leader: Jesse Tosten India is home to over a billion people. Every day, new opportunities are opening up to bring hope to those who don t know Jesus. This team will support Partners India International as it reaches into villages outside of two large cities. The mission involves ministering to the village children, distributing health and hygiene tools to men and women, and bringing encouragement to the locals. Throughout the week there will be other opportunities to interact with pastors in training, teach English at a local tech school, engage in question and answer sessions with college students, speak to teenagers about God s love, interact with city officials, and meet with local Christians. Cost: $2,800 ($2,100 if eligible for PAC subsidy; $1,400 for eligible first-timers) Includes airfare, meals, lodging, transportation and ministry supplies NOTE: Individual opportunities exist beyond the April mission, working with the Christian and Missionary Alliance s English Speaking Center. Using a simple, step-by-step curriculum, you can help teach nationals to speak English. This type of mission can be custom-scheduled to suit a timeframe that works for you. Questions about these missions? missions@princetonalliance.org. 10

The teams will be involved in teaching life skills, and training students and business people interested in learning English as a second language. Serving God through these connection points offers an exciting opportunity to introduce people to the love and hope found only in Jesus. Cost: $2,800 ($2,100 if eligible for PAC subsidy; $1,400 for eligible first-timers) Includes airfare, meals, lodging, transportation and ministry supplies Questions about these missions? missions@princetonalliance.org. 11
