NKJV This second Beatitude is closely related to the first. There must be ongoing conviction and confession of sin to be in and to have a right relationship with God. We have a wonderful, loving, gracious God. Sent Jesus Jesus sent the Comforter John 16:7 7 But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go away. When I go away...ncv Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you... God, you will not reject a heart that is broken and sorry for sin. NCV There are 9 different verbs for the word mourn in the original language. The word Jesus uses here is the strongest. Jesus uses the strongest of the 9 verbs. to grieve, mourn, wail, lament Used often of mourning the death of a loved one. This is the kind of mourning we are to have for sin in our life. Blessed is the man who is desperately sorry for his own sin and his own unworthiness. I will sit in the dust and ashes." NCV II. MY CONTINUAL STATE IS TO BE ONE OF CONFESSION Our mourning should be over conviction of our sin which should lead us to CONFESSION.
