This provides you with current information about ministries in the areas of Risk Taking Mission and Service, Global Health, Ministry with the Poor, Intentional Faith Development and Passionate Worship -- energizing and equipping local churches to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! View this in your browser Free Produce for Your Food Distribution Ministries Does your community need a PARTNER in the fight against hunger? Freestone County River Of Life Food Pantry has negotiated an arrangement with the Texas Growers Association through which fresh produce can be distributed weekly to churches and agencies who are food distribution points. This produce is available at no charge. Each week, produce will be available for PICK UP in Fairfield Texas (located in center of Texas with easy I45 access.) With a phone call or , organizers will be able to coordinate your arrival time and facilitate the distribution.
As an example, this weeks produce selection (8/23-8/30) is: POTATOES, PEACHES, NECTARINES, WATERMELLONS, CHERRY TOMATOES (Packaged in individual plastic baskets) For more information about how your church can participate, contact: Eve Hamilton - Lakeside UMC Streetman, Texas evehamilton2016@gmail.com CLEANING BUCKET DELIVERY INFORMATION We know many churches have been busy making cleaning buckets to be sent to Louisiana as well as raising funds for the conference and UMCOR. To Hillsboro FUMC - please do so by, Wednesday, September 7 located at 315 E. Elm street Hillsboro, TX. To Community of Hope UMC in Mansfield 1800 E. Debbie Ln. Mansfield, TX. Delivery for Community of Hope: Monday Thursday from 10am 3pm & Sunday, Sept. 11th anytime during worship 3pm (although youth will be there after that so they could probably still be dropped off) If you cannot deliver your buckets to either church by this time please take them after these dates to FUMC Hillsboro. This is our depot for our conference and we will need to replenish our cleaning bucket supplies since we sent everything we had to Louisiana. So, please make more for us if you can. Blessings and Thank You!
CTC Serve is one week away! Are you ready?! Find all the resources - logo, devotion, and more - your church needs to participate at Calling All Mission Leaders/Pastors! Have you wondered... How to connect your congregation to UM global health ministries? How your church can possibly select a global ADVANCE project to support from the hundreds available? How your church can connect to global mission where other CTC churches are already at work? If so, you are invited to lunch at the CTC Service Center (3200 East Rosedale) on Friday, October 28 at noon to meet Dr. Stanley Gitari, Coordinator of Community Health, from Maua Methodist Hospital. Dr. Gitari will share the mission and ministry of the hospital with us as well as simple ways your congregation can make a connection. God really DOES have the whole world in God s hands and this opportunity will help you share how with your congregation. There is no cost for lunch. Please RSVP to Sheryl Crumrine at sheryl@ctcumc.org no later than Tuesday, October 25.
3rd ANNUAL FRIENDS OF MAUA GATHERING - Houston, Texas Oct , 2016 at Memorial Drive UMC Click HERE for more information and to register your attendance. Refugee Services of Texas Several Central Texas Conference churches are connecting with their refugee neighbors through a partnership with Refugee Services of Texas (RST). This organization provides opportunities for churches to partner with refugee families in a variety of ways.... from making financial contributions to support their resettlement to actually sponsoring families and walking with them through the resettlement process. If your church has been pondering how you might be involved with this justice ministry, RST has a matching gift opportunity available for Central Texas Conference churches. Through 2016, the Deena Jo Heide- Diesslin Foundation of Fort Worth, every dollar given will be matched one-to-one up to $50,000. This would be a wonderful opportunity for your congregation to learn more about the ministry of RST and make a significant difference in the lives of refugee families. Contributions may be mailed to: Refugee Services of Texas Administration Office Attn: Deena Jo Heide-Diesslin Matching Grant 9241 LBJ Freeway, Ste. 210 Dallas, TX For additional information, please contact Kathy Dodson at kdodson@rstx.org or or Ashley Nichols at anichols@rstx.org
This year s Methodist House is scheduled to begin construction on September 13. It will be built in the Methodist supported neighborhood of Carver Heights East. The Methodist Church will be partnering with the Diarrassouba Family. Vakantie and Mariam Diarrassouba came to the United States from the Ivory Coast looking to escape the poverty in their home country. My dream is to get a house where the mortgage will not be expensive in order to raise my children. Vakantie Diarrassouba Thank you to the Methodist Church for your partnership in the project as well as in the Carver Heights East neighborhood. This Summer Jr. High students from FUMC Mansfield spent their missions week completing a refresher project in the neighborhood. They painted a church and a home, completed landscaping projects as well as built picnic tables for the park. The interest that the Methodist Church as a whole has taken in this neighborhood is sure to make a difference to the residents. From funding homes, to building picnic tables, to painting, a lasting change has started to redirect the path and shape of this East Fort Worth Community. You have taken the Trinity Habitat vision for Carver Heights East and made it your own and for that we are ALL eternally grateful. Cheers, Lauren Calzada Development Team
ZIKA IN TEXAS Currently, there is no vaccine or treatment for the Zika virus once it is contracted. While being bitten by an infected mosquito is the most common way to contract Zika, the virus can also be spread from mother to child during pregnancy, via blood transfusions and through sexual contact. Since Zika is primarily spread via mosquito bites, your best protection to avoid infection is to prevent mosquito breeding and protect yourself from mosquito bites. Please go HERE to read more...
