WHAT DOES THE BIBLE COVER? Old Testament Record of the Creation Record of the Flood History of the Patriarchs Israel as a Nation History of surrounding nations Records of the prophets Prophesies of Nations & Christ New Testament Gospels of Christ s ministry The record of Christ s life/death The spread of the Gospel The Epistles of the Apostles Development of early ecclesias Letters to the Ecclesias The Prophesy in the Revelation
WHAT IS THE BIBLE FOR?... from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:15-17
MEN RECORDED GOD S WORD We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:19-21
THE SOURCE OF TRUTH The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. Psalm 19:7-9
FOR OUR LEARNING For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4
POWER OF GOD For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (17) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17
WORD IS A LAMP Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
