3 DUMC STATEMENT REGARDING GENERAL CONFERENCE VOTE The Leadership Council of DUMC met twice over the last two weeks to determine how we will respond to: 1) the results of the voting of the General Conference s Way Forward vote in February 2019, and 2) the input from the DUMC Town Hall meeting of March 17, A writing team task-force prepared a draft statement for the Leadership Council to consider. The statement below is the fourth draft, which was approved unanimously at last evening s Leadership Council meeting. This statement is posted on the DUMC website and Facebook as well as being incorporated in other church literature. We believe the preparation and posting of this statement is only the next step in an ongoing process at DUMC of sharing among ourselves and with our community the seriousness of our commitment to continue Christ s commandment to love all people. Opportunities for continued dialogue within the congregation are being planned for May The Leadership Council encourages your feedback and will continue to share planning that seeks to embrace all points of view. A Statement from the Dixboro United Methodist Church Leadership Council We are a small village church where every person is welcomed and embraced as part of the Dixboro Church family. We believe ALL people are created in the image of God and ALL are beloved children of God. Dixboro Church has long sought to intentionally welcome ALL persons to this family of God without boundaries of age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, economic circumstances or beliefs. And we are actively striving to create a comfortable space in our fellowship for all children of God to reach their fullest God-given potential. We are committed to love and welcome ALL of God s children. Thus, the Leadership Council of Dixboro UMC is deeply grieved by the February 2019 vote of the United Methodist General Conference. That vote allowed for 1) retaining the current prohibitive language in our United Methodist Book of Discipline regarding our LGBTQIA brothers and sisters, and 2) strengthening the penalties for non-compliance. In the spirit of Jesus Christ, Dixboro United Methodist Church will continue to extend God s love and grace to ALL persons. All are welcome and all means ALL.

4 Easter Daffodils & Tulips Help decorate our Sanctuary for Easter and honor a loved one by purchasing tulips and daffodils. The sign-up sheet is on the table across from the church office, and the cost is $9 per pot. Please sign up by TODAY. Make checks to DUMC, with Altar Guild in the memo line. Senior Fellowship on April 17 The Area Agency on Aging will present a program for the Senior Fellowship on April 17, 2019 at noon in the Fellowship Hall. We are inviting the whole Dixboro community to attend. Lunch available for $7. Invite your friends. Holy Week Potluck Thursday, April 18 th we will reenact the final days of Jesus with communion, ceremonial washing, and journey to the cross. We will begin with a Potluck in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 PM followed by a service at 7:00 PM. Please bring a dish to share. Beverages will be provided. Easter EGGstravaganza Saturday, April 20 Calling all members and friends to volunteer and participate in our 3rd Annual Easter EGGstravaganza from 10:30am-12pm. We have many opportunities including: set-up, bounce house attendant, welcome table workers, registration people, overseer of games & crafts, egg collectors at stations, donate baked goodies for the bake sale, and clean up. Volunteer online at click on the volunteer link at the bottom, or signups are available now. We have decided to purchase the egg fillers, but if you wish to donate towards our EGGstravaganza, it would be much appreciated. BEING THE CHURCH TOGETHER Treats Needed The DUMW is holding a bake sale at the Easter EGGstravaganza. Please bring your treats to the kitchen by 9:00 AM on Saturday April 20th. Due to allergy concerns, please label if they contain any type of nut. Contact Meredith Burr, Carole DeSantis, or Jayne Worthy-Howlett. Easter Breakfast Volunteers Needed Dixboro Church is hosting breakfast between the two Easter Sunday services, and we need volunteers to help serve food, bus tables, wash dishes and help in the kitchen. Sign-up sheets are available in the Fellowship Hall online. Please ask Randy Hucks or Patty Burns if you have any questions Dixboro Cooks Frozen Casserole We still have large and small sizes of: Cabbage Rolls, Beef Lasagna, Hearty Beans and Meat, and Chicken Shepherd's Pie. As of today we will have a vegetarian casserole and our famous Meatloaf WITH Mashed Potatoes. See one of the Cooks (Jayne, Meredith, Barb, and Elaine Sanford) for purchase during Fellowship time. The Rummage Sale is Coming! Time to Clean Those Closets! This year s DUMW Rummage Sale is scheduled for May 2-4. Items for the sale can be dropped off beginning Sunday April 28th through 2:00 PM May 1st. We will NOT be selling adult clothing this year; otherwise all other donations gratefully accepted. Look for sign-up sheets in the Fellowship Hall if you are able to help with set up and/or at the sale. 5 Fundraising for Capital Improvements The trustees are currently creating project plans and budgets for capital improvements. Two focus areas in need of updating are the parsonage and trim on the outside of the sanctuary. Would you consider giving in addition to your tithe, so our building and parsonage can be more hospitable as we welcome new and loved faces? Dixboro Women Potluck A pot luck for women and girls of Dixboro Church and their friends, family and neighbors is scheduled for May 17 6:30-8 PM. We invite all women and girls of the church to attend this "Getting to Know You" Event. We are asking for women to volunteer to host a table of 8 family, friends and soon to be friends. Please see Carol Barnett or Dianne Kern to volunteer to be a hostess. Please look ahead to put this event on the calendar and let Carol or Dianne know you are coming. More information will come to you after Easter. Help Our New Pastor Acclimate We would like to help Rev. Garza and her husband get acquainted with local businesses. When you re out and about, pick up a business card from a restaurant, or business you frequent, put your name on the back and place it in the basket located on the table in fellowship hall. She mentioned she needs recommendations for vets, dry cleaning, dentist, doctors, hair dressers, antique shops, grocery stores, etc. She especially likes to support businesses of the members of the church. Flowers on the Altar Sign-up The Altar Guild invites you to sign up to bring flowers for the altar, which will be displayed during the worship service. You can honor a friend or family member, celebrate a birthday/anniversary/birth, or bring flowers just because. There is a sign-up sheet in the church office. If you sign up at least a week ahead of time, your message will be in the bulletin.
