This loss comes rapidly on the heels of the loss of his mother just a few weeks ago. 3 Coming Community Events Baby Bottle Bank Campaign Between Mother s Day and Father s Day, the CPC Women s Health Resource is asking for your spare change. Would you consider taking a baby bottle and filling it up? The monies go toward helping rescue children and families from abortion. Every human life is precious. Thank you for helping support this important ministry. You can pick up a bottle [at the back of the church]. Got Change for that! Pose with your bottle and share the pic on FB or Twitter. Don t have a bottle to fill? We ll get you one! The Relay for Life Used Book Sale needs donations of clean used books, puzzles, board games, DVDs, and CDs. Bring your donated items to the collection boxes at Chief Market Wauseon, Super Value in Archbold or Community Market in Delta or for pick up call Al at The book sale will be June 7 thru 9 th at the Fulton County Fairgrounds during the Relay. The Black Swamp Benefit is Friday-Saturday, June at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Wauseon. The heart of this event is the quilt auction, wood and specialty auction held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. We are in need of many items for our event to be successful. Quilts of all sizes, handcrafted wood furniture, children s items, outdoor equipment, gift certificates, vacation vouchers, hosted dinners, handmade crafts and antiques. Notes from the Pastor Church, I ve been thinking of this point from last Sunday s sermon, Go and be where you are supposed to be. What if the shepherds in Luke 2:8-20 hadn t been where they were supposed to be? What if they were busy messing around or worrying about stuff they shouldn t have? Today - Sandy Aeschliman is bringing the morning s message titled, Lessons from a little man from Luke 19:1-10. (I, Jess, will be in Oregon backpacking with two of my brothers. 4 Church Notes **Update on Hygiene Kits for MCC** Due to the great demand for the hygiene kits, they will be collected until the end of May. Can you fill a few bags to help the less fortunate? The items for the kits include: 1 adult-size toothbrush (in manufacturer s packaging) 1 large bar bath soap (leave in wrapper) 1 nail clipper (good quality) 1 hand towel (medium weight, dark or bright colors; approx. 16 in x 26 in) 1 wide-tooth comb (6-8 in) Thank you so much, for responding to this need. West Clinton VBS is rapidly approaching! Using the theme Shipwrecked, children will set sail for an uncharted island where they will learn more about being anchored in God s Truth. VBS kicks off Sunday, June 10 at 5:00 PM at the Pettisville soccer field. Children are invited to bring their family and friends for food, fun and games. Monday thru Thursday, VBS meets from 6 8 PM at the church. Transportation is available with pickup at the Pettisville soccer field at 5:50 PM and drop off at approximately 8:10 PM. Registration forms are available in the narthex, OR you can register online at MYF Reminder There will be a parents meeting on Wednesday, June 6th at 7 pm for the Ark Encounter and Work Trip. Life Planning/MYF Senior Celebration, Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 7:00 for Youth and Mentors meal and time together. Parents of Seniors please plan to arrive at 7:45 for dessert and a short program. Start saving your change now for My Coins Count (formerly Penny Power.) The coin jug will be available in the lobby each Sunday before the Black Swamp Benefit and we will also take up a Noisy Offering on June 10. We are also looking for donors who will be willing to match some or all of West Clinton's donations and increase our contribution to MCC's development work around the world. Sara's Garden is looking for typical peer volunteers for their summer programs, June They are looking for children ages 7-9 years old on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 am - 11 am and kids ages 9-12 years old on Mondays and Fridays, 12 pm - 3 pm. Themes for this year's summer program for special needs kids includes learning about farms and gardening, bugs, transportation and community helpers. The older age group will be focusing on STEM activities centered around those themes. If your typical child is interested in volunteering to help with the summer program for special needs kids, please contact Katie at katieh@sarasgarden.org or call Sara's Garden at and ask for Katie. Join us for lunch after church on Sunday, June 17 to help raise funds for Elizabeth Miller's upcoming SALT term in Honduras! Bring your families to a Father s Day meal of burgers and ice cream sundaes in the fellowship hall. Since VBS is at West Clinton this year, Mennonite Women (Sewing) will meet one week early, Wednesday, June 6, from 9 AM to 3:30 PM. MCC is asking for many comforters due to the many natural disasters and wars. If anyone could spare even a few hours to help knot comforters, we would really appreciate the extra hands. There will be a planned meal. Join MCC Great Lakes and Center for Community Justice for a weeklong Pipeline to Prison learning tour. Based in Goshen, Ind., the tour will focus on the challenges and complexities of the U.S. criminal justice system and include day trips to Elkhart, Peru and Kokomo. Participants will journey from the local community level through the criminal justice system, learning about law enforcement, sentencing, incarceration and re-entry. All who are interested in learning about disparities in the justice system, including those working in or seeking to develop a prison/reentry ministry, are welcome.
