1 West Side Presbyterian Church Family Sunday Second Sunday of Lent March 17, :15 am Service ABOUT TODAY S SERVICE Today is Family Sunday at West Side. Children in Pre-K through 1st grade will be dismissed for their small groups at the Passing of the Peace. Children in 2nd grade through 7th grade will remain in worship and are invited to come forward when prompted for the Message for All Ages. We look forward to additional energy in worship today! 2 ~ The Preparation for the Word ~ PRELUDE Sicilienne Enrico Bossi WORDS OF WELCOME *CALL TO WORSHIP and OPENING PRAYER God has called us to this place to hear the word of the Lord. Jesus talked in parables to teach people about the Kingdom of God. Let us pray: God of Life, You are as near to us as our breath. Touch our eyes, that we may see You in one another. Open our ears, that we may hear Your voice in the cries of people in need. Enter our hearts, that we may be filled with Your love toward all people. *HYMN OF PRAISE 81 Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days ST. FLAVIAN CALL TO CONFESSION PRAYER OF CONFESSION 2 Merciful God, You pardon all who truly repent and turn to You. We humbly confess our sins and ask Your mercy. 3 We have not done justice, loved kindness, or walked humbly with You, our God. Have mercy on us, O God, in Your loving-kindness. In Your great compassion, cleanse us from our sin. Forty days did Jesus face temptation strong; give me strength to conquer knowing right from wrong. I would be like Jesus turning from all sin, with His love to keep me true and faithful within. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and in the house of my God I will live forever. This Anthem was given to honor Eleanor Hahn as she battled cancer. This morning the Senior High Choir sings the Anthem in honor of Samantha Haase as she battles leukemia. *DOXOLOGY 591 *PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise Triune God, whom we adore. Ushers will collect the cards during the announcements. Those arriving after the Call to Worship begins will be seated during the next hymn or the passing of the peace. If you must leave the Sanctuary during worship, please wait in the Narthex until the next hymn, the passing of the peace or the doxology before returning to your seat. Please help us protect and care for our beautiful worship space. Food and beverages, with the exception of closed plastic water bottles, are not allowed in the Sanctuary.
