My favourite Bible Study bible would be The Newberry Bible (AV/KJV with lots of add-ons) My favourite devotional bib le would be my unmarked, plain text, AV/KJV Cambridge UP Turquoise 8vo refs, India paper. I have used these for yea rs) 2. The Online Bible. Larry Pearce's unique contribution to the Computer age. FREE with a never ending supply of additio nal information. available at 3. Vine's Expository Dictionary 4. Interlinear NT. Greek text based on Stephens with literal translation interlined and the AV/KJV in the margin. I could live without the rest. Joseph Henry Thayer prepared one which holds a lot of interesting material even for a beginner. Zondervan Publishing House. With some persistency one will learn the Greek alphabet and then, just go for it... Blessings, Lars W Re:, on: 2003/8/13 12:54 I remember years ago someone mentioning to me that Thayer was a universalist or Unititarian and his lexicon is tainted with his belief system. If I remember right he did not believe that Christ was God and the Jehovah Witnesses have used portions of his lexicon to defend their position. Consequently I stayed away from it and use the William F. Arndt and F.Wi lbur Gingrich's Lexicon. I used to own both and upon comparing many words I decided on the AG and threw away my T hayers. The ones I rely on are some of the old with a mix of the new (like Youngs, Strongs). Regarding commentaries I have wor ks by Martin Luther, Calvin, Boice, Lloyd-Jones, Ravenwood. My study Bible is the Reformed Study Bible I also have rep roduction of the Geneva study Bible which I enjoy. It uses alpha-numeric coding beneath the Greek word to gi ve full parsing of every word in the Greek NT. This can often be very helpful in clarifying KJV ambiguities. I don't use it of ten but when I need it it does the job beautifully. (the Online Bible does some parsing but is not exhaustive) It provides a much needed service to all those students of the New Testament who can't remember the marvels of Koine Greek morphology and syntax. Each word of the Greek New Testament is analyzed in terms of tense, number, person, gender, etc. A simple alpha-numeric code provides the key to parsing any word. Companion volumes by the same autho rs use this analyzed text to provide lexical and grammatical concordances of the entire Greek New Testament. Two things would have made it perfect; a Strongs Number link for every word (although I have this elsewhere) and a the Stephens Greek Text (rather than the Nestle/UBS/Aland which does not have my confidence) (amazon.com has some second hand copies) Re: - posted by HelloIAmLinda (), on: 2003/8/19 11:37 There's a Bible Study tool (I guess that's what you call it) :oops: that's really great and so simple to do. It's called E-Sw ord. I don't know how to do a link, in fact, I barely know how to even turn on a computer, but this download was so simpl e, that even I could do it. And using it is so simple, that even I can do it! It comes with the KJV Bible (my favorite) but o n the download site, there are other Bibles, as well as commentaries, dictionaries and a host of other wonderful things th at you can download and it automatically goes into the E-Sword thing you downloaded. I think if you just put E-Sword in your search engine, you can find it. Go check it out, you'll be glad you did! :-D Love in Christ, Linda Re: Geneva Text - posted by philologos (), on: 2003/8/22 3:11 I haven't costed the E-sword software or its modules but this is the first time I have seen a bible program which has the Geneva bible as a module. Does anyone know if other bible programs have Geneva? I have created a pdf of Tyndale's 1526 version which I would be willing to to anyone who would like a copy. I have wanted to do the same for Geneva but have never found a source for the naked text. Tyndale was the main source for Geneva and remains the main source for the KJV. Currently the KJV NT is 86% Tyndale. Page 2/5

It is offered free of charge and includes a number of bible modules, commentaries, and dictionaries/concordances, books, maps, STEP reader. It's very useful for organizing your own study notes and preparing messages. I use it often for taking and organizing my study notes when listening to audio sermons that I download from this site and others. I have created topic notes for each speaker with headings for each message I listen to, it's easy to go back and quickly review the sermons this way. There's a lot there for free! I was so pleased with the software I sent the author a check out of gratitude. More so olb but that might be because i ha ve been using it longer. I am extremly gratefull for my copy of the companion bible, i personaly think it is one of the best tools going. I don't see e ye to eye with Bullinger on a few things, in particualr his blend of dispensationalism but it is still a fine tool. i also love his work on figures of speech in the bible which is most enlightening. In terms of bible translations I probably read the NKJV more than anything but also read a lot from; Rotherhams, Youngs the Concordant Version, Darby and weymouth. As someone once said though, "I have an Emphasised Bible, an Amplified Bible, an Emphatic Bible and an Expanded bi ble but the best one of all is the Exemplified Bible! the one that is lived out in reality. Don't forget that so many of the religious leaders of Jesus day had great acces to the scriptures in the original language, but yet when Christ walked by they could not see Him. His word to the pharises of His day holds true for many evangelicals of our day "Ye search the scriptures, for ye think that in them ye have life eternal, and they it is which bear witness concerning me" looking unto Him, Stuart Page 3/5

There is a forum called ( The Christian Lounge. A lot of discussi on about e-sword and many downloadable add-ons also. I highly recommend it. My favorite bible is the NKJV. The Chrisitan Lounge site you mentioned is really good, I have been there before. He gives you the tools to be able to make your own modules, commentaries, etc. (note: these tools are for more advanc ed computer users). I just recently found out how you can make and add your own modules to it, abit complicated though. Their operation is not quite so slick as the Online Bible but actually has more information. They are to be found in the Greek texts which have '+' sign and are inclu ded with 1.The Robinson/Pierpont Byzantine Greek New Testament with complete parsing information for all Greek words. 2.The Textus Receptus Greek New Testament with complete parsing information for all Greek words. Base text is Steph ens 1550, with variants of Scrivener e-sword has now added number parsing to its KJV module. This give instant information and it a great tool, although a t the moment it is limited to the verbs in both Testaments. For precision identification of Greek parts of speech, these are vary valuable modules. Page 5/5
