CATECHETICAL FORMATION PROGRAMME This course is intended for all those starting out in the Ministry of Catechesis, as well as those who need to update their vision and understanding of catechesis as an initiation into the life and mission of Christ. First Reconciliation 1-30th June First Reconciliation 2-21 st July First Communion 1-28th July First Communion 2-11th August It is recommended that all catechists undergo this initial course before undertaking any further formation. Post Communion Post Communion Confirmation 1-15th September Confirmation 2-220d September The format of the course has changed this this year in that it will include a practical component aimed at each of the particular faith levels on the catechetical journey. ONGOING FORMATION AND TRAINING This course is open to all catechists as a means of deepening knowledge and advancing confidence and competency in using the Catechism of the Catholic Church as a means of evangelization. 2 -, 3.CATECHETICAL FORVlATION PROGRAMME - XHOSA This course is an initial training in catechesis for all those whose mother tongue in Xhosa., The course consists of eight sessions held on Saturday afternoons (3hours) once a month. Saturdays Dates: 1-19 th February 2-1i h March 3-16 th April 4-7 th May 5-18 th June 6-23 rd July 7-13 th August 8-3 rd September 4. LIVING THE WORD This course is intended for catechists using Lectionary Based Catechesis in Faith Levels 5-8 (Post Communion + Pre-Confirmation) Its aim is to equip and empower catechists with materials and the ability to use the materials. 3 RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS - RCIA This course aims at those Catechists who are involved, in or would like to be involved in, the implementation of the Baptismal Catechumenate in their parish. These 6 sessions will give the participants an understanding of the RCIA as a process, as well as cover the practical aspects of facilitation an evaluation of the Catechumenal Journey in a parish context. 1: Introduction: The Process - Reason for the Process - 19 th February 2: Liturgy Planning - Celebration of the Rites _12th March 3: Mystagogia - A Reflection on Scripture and experience - so" April 4: The Liturgical Cycle and Symbols 5: Practical skills for the Journey - 23 rd - 18 th June. CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD This Catechesis is a liturgy and scripture based approach To the religious formation of children, 3-12 years of age. It utilizes Montesorri educational principles And acknowledge the unique developmental and spiritual needs and capacities of the child. The Level One, Part 1 Course will be offered this year. 4 7. SPRED This caring ministry enables persons with developmental and learning 'challenges' to integrate into all aspects of parish life. Training and formationis now provided to all parishes in the Archdiocese. We will happily assist you to set upa Spred parish community in your parish. A RETREAT to start the year for ALL existing groups to reflect on their mission and purpose together. BREAD FOR THE JOURNEY This Course is the beginning of a new cycle in a 3 year programme and will consist of 3 s in 2011, with a special emphasis on the Gospel of Matthew(Year A) Participants will achieve a basic understanding of scripture and be introduced to the teaching of the Church on the Bible.
