Luke 11:35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.
Luke 11:37-41 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.
Then the Lord said to him, Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people!
Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? But now as for what is inside you be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you. Luke 11:37-41
The belief that getting clean on the inside has nothing to do with external behavior is as mistaken as the belief that you can get clean on the inside by focusing on external behavior.
Luke 11:41 But now as for what is inside you be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.
Luke 6:43-44 No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.
James 2:16-19 If one of you says to [the poor and hungry], Go in peace; keep warm and well fed, but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder.
You CAN T make yourself clean.
Only God can make you clean.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Ezekiel 36:26-27
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
Matthew 6:33 seek first God s kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.
