A Letter from the Administrator _ Faith Without Works Is Dead Recently, Harbor Light Christian School Worship Band led worship for the Genesis Harbor Springs Church pastored by Will Henagan. It was such a wonderful night. Will had a few of the students share their experience and thoughts about worship. This touched my heart, I was so impressed with the depth of their testimonies and their heartfelt praise. I know it was pleasing to the Lord and something HLCS and Amy Cross (their teacher) can be proud of. Christian education is not something we should take for granted. Harbor Light Christian School students can seek the Lord and deepen their relationship with Him during their regular school day, worship band is only one example of this. Learning at HLCS is in an environment where each staff member has their own relationship with the Lord and can help students in their walk even while teaching core subjects. If this is an option for our children, to be cared for, raised, and educated in a Christian environment, why wouldn't we take it? Of course, I realize as parents we are stewards of our children, accountable to God. It is our job to seek the Lord to determine what His will is for their education. However, I am also aware many families who would like this type of education for their children rule it out for one main reason - money. As parents, it is our job to raise up our children in the way they should go... This entails seeking the Lord about a plan for their education and where they are to spend most of the hours in their day. One family I was talking with explained as they did this, they strongly felt they were to send their son to HLCS. There was only one problem, they didn't have the provision to do so. But as they stepped out in faith, registered, started school, and determined to stay there, God met them and made provision each step of the way, many times in ways they could never have figured out beforehand.

Box Top & UPC Fundraising We can earn money for HLCS by clipping Box Tops coupons from hundreds of participating products and UPC symbols from Spartan brand products. So please clip and save your Box Tops and Spartan UPC labels and turn them in at the office. Thank you! (We no longer collect Campbell's labels.) Over 20 area churches are represented by the students and staff at HLCS. Check it out! Remember! That was many years ago, God has continually provided as they continued to walk by faith and not by sight. I know many of you have seen God's wonderful provision in this same way as you've purposed to have your children be a part of HLCS. I could rehearse many times in our lives, with our children, and various other things the Lord put on our hearts to do, often we stepped out thinking, "but how God?" Sometimes God doesn't give us the plan in its entirety, but requires us to follow His leading blindly like Abraham. At least three times in the New Testament and even in the Old Testament, the Bible tells us the just shall LIVE BY FAITH. Faith is not making decisions based upon our five physical senses and reasoning alone, but upon God's written word and the leading of His Holy Spirit in accordance with that Word. The Bible is full of accounts of people acting in ways that didn't seem to make sense to the natural mind, feeding someone their last bit of food during a famine, giving away their last penny, sacrificing their only son who is supposed to produce a great nation etc., are among the historical stories of people walking by faith and not by sight. Let me encourage you as you are considering the future education of your children or grandchildren, to seek the One who trusted you with these wonderful children to raise. Ask our Father in heaven His best plan for them and then follow it boldly, knowing where He guides He will provide. And if you know of any other Christian families who may desire this for their children, encourage them in this same way. I've seen Him do it time and time again, He is faithful! As the culture moves from Christianity it also seems to be moving from capitalism. Thank you everyone who came to our spring musical Peter Pan Jr. We had so much fun performing for you all, and we hope that you were all blessed by your evening with us. We had five days to put together a set and practice with the entire cast, and once again, the students, staff, and families made this musical a success! I am blessed by everyone who came out and poured into our drama program and most importantly our student body. You are all truly amazing! ~ Donna Powers, Director of Development

5 School News _ HELP NEEDED! Harbor Light Christian School is making a new play area for the little ones. We are making some changes to the area outside of the Kindergarten classroom to take advantage of a wonderful space close to the school. Here it will be more convenient for younger students to have outdoor activities and playtime. Several of you have already volunteered to help, but we could still use more. If you are interested in helping, please let us know, we are planning the date ASAP. Here are the needs: Excavating 3 small pine trees need to be removed or transplanted Woodchips need to be spread

6 Missions Week In March, students in 9th - 12th grade had the opportunity to participate in a mission trip with locations that included Detroit, West Virginia, and Guatemala.

Missions Week back at home In February, our elementary students were given the opportunity to make a global impact in the missions field while staying right here at HLCS.

8 Missions Week back at home In February, our elementary students were given the opportunity to make a global impact in the missions field while staying right here at HLCS. Each year our high school students go out into the mission field to share the love of Christ in practical ways whether it be cleaning, building, painting, etc. Many of the students who went to Guatemala the year before saw that the people were in need of stoves with vents so that their houses would not fill with smoke. They discovered a company that made stoves that could be carried in pieces to the villages and then assembled, but each stove cost $150. In an effort to raise money, they turned to our youngest students and challenged them to raise money for one stove. The goal was for each child to do one chore and then bring in $3. In the end, the children raised over $ almost ten times the amount they had been challenged to raise! Not only that but they shoveled snow, cleaned bedrooms, and helped neighbors to raise every penny. We are so proud of our youngest

If you have been to any field trips, events, visited the classroom, or come to a coffee hour and taken photos please share them with us. The service is on May 21 from am with a blessing and luncheon to follow. There is no need to be a member or to even attend the service, just have your bike in the front parking lot by 11:00 and stay for lunch if you would like to.
