8 A good friend of mine has found themselves in a quandary. There are two paths that can be taken in life. One path is certainly familiar and has brought a huge supply of success to life. It is the path that does have purpose and they could walk this path and have a life that is totally satisfying. The second path is one of risk. It represents steps that walk along an unknown way. Unlike the first path, this one is not familiar. As with the first path, this one too has purpose but perhaps the purpose of this path is grand. Whereas the first path would change life s circumstances for a short time, the second path represents one that can change the world for a lifetime. What does my friend do? Which path should be taken? This scene is much like the daily scenarios people like you and I are forced to wrestle. On one hand the familiar path is enticing because it can represent comfort or calm. The other path seems risky and may at times not make much sense. That is life, isn t it? Jesus knew His disciples would face some pretty difficult decisions in life. After His death, resurrection and ascension into heaven He would no longer physically be with them. Some were concerned over their life s path without Jesus there to guide each step. Others were not sure how they would survive in the face of life s difficult decisions. What I have discovered in my own life is to make sure I am anchored to something that ensures no matter how stormy the days might be or how difficult and lonely a night might become, the Lord has made it clear I am not alone. Jesus said to His disciples, the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. John 14:26-27a Even after thousands of years we are still not alone. No matter what our life s path brings before us, Jesus reminds us we are never alone and even though He is not visible, the Holy Spirit guides our way. Oh, my friend? Well, the right decision has been made for which path to take. All of the hopes and dreams of each path have been placed in God s hands and that ensures my friend, the decision that needs to be made will not be wrong. See you on Sunday! 8

9 Children Give in Love Children attending our Sunday morning GROW time have been giving in love through weekly service projects. On the third Sunday of the last two months, kids learned to be the hands and feet of Jesus by preparing bags for Open Arms Resource Center, making get well and miss you cards, preparing bags for the sleeping mat ministry and putting labels on water bottles to hand out at sports fields. Great job! Open Arms Resource Center Receives Grant The Florida Conference has rewarded Open Arms with a $1,000 grant to fund the food ministry. This ministry of St. Paul UMC was one of 30 churches which applied for funds. A special thanks to Toni Cusick who researched and wrote the proposal securing the funds. District Superintendent John Powers, Pastor BJ Foster and Shaun Powers with teammates. Nothing But Nets Raises Funds Nearly 100 lives will be saved thanks to those who came out to support the Nothing But Nets charity basketball game on Friday, April 26. More than $700 was raised to purchase nets to combat malaria. Each net saves lives! Even though our team (photographed above) didn t win, a lot of fun was hand, and money was raised. Thank you to everyone who came out and to those who played in the game. Toilet Paper Drive Being the hands of Jesus. Thank you to all of those who have brought toilet paper to the church and Open Arms for the toilet paper drive last Sunday! We are still counting the rolls but are sure we met our goal of 700 rolls! What a blessing for the families to serve! If you have GOOD NEWS, we would love to hear it.
