1 Traditional Worship Service - 9:00 AM Contemporary Worship Service - 10:30 AM APRIL 2018 LUMC ENDOWMENT BEGINS RECEIVING GIFTS The Lithopolis United Methodist Church Endowment has become a reality. A church conference resolution, the formation of a church endowment committee and the selection of the Fairfield County Foundation to be the trustee of the funds have all taken place. Gifts to the endowment have been received. The purpose of the Endowment is to financially support the mission of the church by using the investment income from gifts given to the fund. A gift to the LUMC Endowment is a gift that never stops giving as it is the investment return that is used by the church. The gift or principal is not used unless so designated. In this manner it is a special gift that is different from donations to the church's general operating fund. Many times this gift is made possible by a will or trust. Sometimes gifts happen when people feel that a gift to the Endowment is the right gift through which to share Jesus bestowed blessings in our lives with others. A couple gave this example: We have been blessed by God in so many great ways. Our church family has been one of the most significant blessings. We have been fortunate to support Christ s work over the years by giving our time, talent and financial resources to LUMC. At our death, there is an end of the giving of our time and talents, but through the LUMC Endowment, we can forever support our LUMC family financially as they continue to bring more people closer to Christ. There are many deserving causes but we are going to continue supporting the causes that are first in our hearts. We are leaving an inheritance to our children, but we are also going to continue to support God s work as we have done most of our lives through a gift to the LUMC Endowment. While many gifts come to endowment programs as bequests, the good news is you DO NOT have to die to give. Many gifts are given because people want to do something special for the church and they want to see the results of their gift. A brochure describing the LUMC program is available in the church Welcome Center. In addition, if you have interest in the Endowment, please see Pastor Charles or Carl Spencer.

Kids move up to their next class level Merge House - Sunday, May 20 th right after both worship services Monthly Faith Formation Focus: STUDY Among school age children study can be a dirty word. However studying about God doesn't always require a book. Although the best book to study is the Bible, there are other ways to learn about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. One way is to study God's creation. In Acts the disciples describe the coming of the Holy Spirit as wind. Spend some time standing in the wind; focus all your senses on this experience. Next time you read the Scripture about the Holy Spirit, you will have a memory stored that will bring the Scriptures to life. 8 The Dress Code and the LUMW Are you tired of keeping all those clothes until Trash & Treasure time each August? We have a solution for you. The Lithopolis United Methodist Women s organization has partnered with The DressCode to sell your donated clothes with proceeds going to LUMW missions. In the past year, LUMW has made over $650 from The DressCode sales! The DressCode is a clothing consignment shop located at 3026 Columbus-Lancaster Rd NW in Lancaster. It is located near the Meijer store in Lancaster. Following are some of the consignment guidelines: Items taken are name brand apparel, handbags, footwear and accessories (including fashion scarves and jewelry) for Ladies, Plus Sizes, Teens and Men that are clean and current with no signs of wear and tear. Items need to be clean and pressed on hangers or folded neatly in a basket or tote. Items not taken discount brands, lingerie, bathing suits, shoes that show any wear, custom or handmade items, bridesmaids dresses, dyed-to-match shoes, clothing that shows any age or wear. Don t be offended if some items are refused as they know what items will be bought by their customers based on over 12 years in the consignment business. Consignments can be brought to the store Monday through Saturday without an appointment during the following hours: Monday through Friday 10 AM to 7 PM and Saturdays 10 AM to 6 PM. The DressCode accepts items that are appropriate to the upcoming or current season, since their goal is to sell them within the next 4 to 6 weeks. Items not appropriate to the season will not be accepted. So please take items according to the following schedule: Spring February 1 Summer April 1 Fall August 1 Winter October 1 Prom Gowns January 1 through May 1 Items that are not sold within 4 to 6 weeks will be given to charity by The DressCode. Additional information can be found at Advise The DressCode to put items on the following account: LUMW #17065 (in all capitals). It is very important to use this code so we can get credit for the sales. Items that are not taken by The DressCode can be saved for the annual Trash and Treasure Sale so we can maximize their value. If you have any questions about the process, contact Dianne Myers at or myersd73@gmail.com. If you are unable to take clothes to The DressCode, Dianne can deliver for you. As always, thank you for your support of LUMW missions.
