1 5TH GRADE COLLEGE PARK CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON OVERVIEW * WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL BE LEARNING Each of the lessons in How Majestic Is Your Name presents glorious truths about God and calls for a response toward Him. More important though is the cumulative effect caused by interconnecting the lessons which work together to build toward a response to the greatness of God. So although the placement of some lessons is arbitrary, most of the lessons have been placed in an intentional order. First the character and work of God is shown through His Hebrew names. Then Jesus is shown as fully God and a further revelation of the character of God. The redemptive role of Jesus is presented through the names, Lamb of God and High Priest The culmination of the age and the judgment of man are then discussed. These all build toward the truth that God is the only answer to the longings in man s soul and the only answer to man s sin problem. God s awesome nature and majestic name require a response. The eyeopening and convicting work of the Holy Spirit is man s only hope for responding to God and treasuring His great name. Such a faith-producing response enables us to suffer for the name of the God who will work to protect His great name. In order for faith to grow, children must first see the greatness of God and their own unworthiness. As that sense of their condition before an Almighty God grows, the possibility of response to such a great God grows. Sometimes, when a person had an encounter with God, God changed that person s names to reflect a change in character or destiny. Nothing is too hard for God. The variety in God s creation reflects the vastness of God.

He does not need anyone or anything. He never gets used up or wears out. God does not change. He has no limits; nothing is too hard for God. Because God is almighty, He is more than able to care for His children. God is able to fully provide for us because He not only has all of creation at His disposal, but He also has the inexhaustible resources of Himself. God looks upon His creation with eyes of compassion. God heals all kinds of hurts. God is the commander of a multitude of angels. Blessings come through obedience. Peace comes from God. God knows His own and cares for us as a shepherd cares for his sheep. He alone is sovereign over everyone and everything in this world. God will not allow another to take His place. The shedding of blood is the only acceptable punishment for sin. It is a cause for rejoicing when we are counted worthy to suffer for the name of Christ. The way to endure in suffering is to abide in Jesus and to trust in the promises of God.
