13 1 John 4:1-3-Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 2 John 7-11-For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward. 9 [a] Anyone who [b] goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; 11 for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds. Rev. 17:15-And he said to me, The waters which you saw where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues." Acts 2: So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand [a] souls. 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and [b] to prayer. 43 [c] Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and [d] signs were taking place through the

14 apostles. 44 And all those who had believed [e] were together and had all things in common; 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread [f] from house to house, they were taking their [g] meals together with gladness and [h] sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding [i] to their number day by day those who were being saved. Constable-This verse is a favorite of promoters of the ecumenical movement. However, as the content and context of this verse clarify, Jesus was not speaking about institutional unity but personal unity among genuine believers. He was praying that "all" true believers would "be one" in their love for one another, their submission to the authority of Scripture, and their commitment to their mission. Disunity among professing Christians has frustrated Jesus' purpose that the world might believe on Him. Nevertheless, the solution to this problem is not to impose an artificial institutional unity that ignores the bases of true unity and presents a hypocritical facade of oneness. It is to promote love for one another among genuine believers. John 1:12-13-But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were [i] born, not of [j] blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. Chafer- Thoughtless and absurd is the modern notion that Christ was praying that denominations which exist in this remote time and in a country then unknown might become organically united

15 in one, and therefore it is the duty of all sects to unite and thus help to answer this prayer. As indicated before, this unity is sought at the hand of the Father, indicating that it is a divine undertaking. It is that, and it results in a unity as organic and vital as that between the Father and the Son. This prayer began to be answered on the Day of Pentecost when believers were by the Spirit baptized into one Body, and is constantly answered whenever a soul is saved and thus joined as a member to the Body of Christ by the same baptism of the Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:13- For [a] by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. 22 Constable- In what sense do all believers share God's "glory"? Jesus probably was speaking of His bringing the full knowledge of God to them. The revelation of God results in glory for God. When believers understand and believe the revelation of God that Jesus brought, they become partakers of that "glory." This is something else they share in unity with one another, that the Father and the Son also share with one another. 23 John 15:2- Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He [a] prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. John 14:23- Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.

16 Col 1: that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His [a] saints, 27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Rom. 8:9- However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 1 Cor. 6: Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? Rom. 6:12-Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts. Rom. 12:1-Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, [a] acceptable to God, which is your [b] spiritual service of worship. 24 John 7:39- But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 17:5- Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

17 2 Cor. 5:8- we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Philip. 1: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 [a] But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know [b] which to choose. 23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better. John 14:2-3- In My Father s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also a 2 Peter 3:18- but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 26b John 14:23- Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 18 Heb. 13:20-21-Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep [a] through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, 21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
