GATHERING TOGETHER TO WORSHIP PRELUDE OPENING RESPONSE L: This is the day that the Lord has made; P: let us rejoice and be glad in it. *SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST L: In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught us: when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister and then come and offer your gift. Before we offer our gifts of worship and self to God, we must make peace with one another. L: The Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. P: And also with you. L: Let us pass the peace of Christ. PASSING OF THE PEACE RESPONSE: Blest Be the Tie that Binds Blest be the tie that binds; Our hearts in Christian love; The fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above. If we have slid away from new opportunities, or failed to give our best effort to long familiar duties, forgive us and restore us merciful Friend. L: If we have become weary, and slipped into mirroring the prejudices and dissatisfactions of a greedy and unjust world, forgive us and heal us merciful Friend. L: If we have performed well in public, smoothly keeping up appearances, while our personal faith has grown shabby and weak, forgive us and rehabilitate us, merciful Friend. L: Loving God, you are not impatient and tight fisted like us, your generosity flows freely to all your creatures. Samaritan Purse Boxes are Due the week of November 12th: If you plan on participating in the Samaritan Purse Boxes, your boxes need to be turned in by the week of November 12th. Hanging of the Greens on December 3, Immediately Following Worship: The Deacons invite everyone to do a little Christmas decorating as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Before decorating begins, the Deacons will be serving a delicious lunch of assorted soups, cornbread, and dessert. Come hang greens and celebrate this season of joy. In you, we have nothing to fear. Take away all fear that keeps us from embracing the good things you have prepared for us. Keep us seeking only for you that we might live in your house and enjoy your beauty and glory forever. *HYMN OF PRAISE #263: Immortal, Invisible God Only Wise *CALL TO CONFESSION (to be read by the liturgist) Hear these words from Romans: You did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, Abba! Father! it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heir, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Let us put aside our fears, and with confidence, confess our sins to our Father knowing that in our brother Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. We will confess our sins first in a time of silent prayer for our sins as individuals and then in a time of prayer said responsively for our sins as a community. Let us pray *RESPONSIVE PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Please hear us, loving God, when we cry to you, be gracious to us and answer our prayer.
