Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that she has served her term, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from Lord s hand double for all her sins. A voice cries out: In wilderness prepare way of Lord, make straight in desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; uneven ground shall become level, and rough places a plain. Then glory of Lord shall be revealed, and all people shall see it toger, for mouth of Lord has spoken. A voice says, Cry out! And I said, What shall I cry? All people are grass, ir constancy is like flower of field. The grass wirs, flower fades, when breath of Lord blows upon it; surely people are grass. The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. But day of Lord will come like a thief, and n heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and elements will be dissolved with fire, and earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed. Since all se things are to be dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought you to be in leading lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening coming of day of God, because of which heavens will be set ablaze and dissolved, and elements will melt with fire? But, in accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home. Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for se things, strive to be found by him at peace, without spot or blemish; and regard patience of our Lord as salvation. And people from whole Judean countryside and all people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in river Jordan, confessing ir sins. 7 All rise as able. nicene creed We believe in one God, Far, Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, only Son of God, eternally begotten of Far, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with Far; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of Holy Spirit and Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On third day he rose again in accordance with Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at right hand of Far. He will come again in glory to judge living and dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in Holy Spirit, Lord, giver of life, who proceeds from Far, who with Far and Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for forgiveness of sins. We look for resurrection of dead, and life of world to come. Amen. 10 10 Presider We give thanks to you, O God, for goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation: in calling of Israel to be your people: in your Word spoken through prophets; and above all in Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in se last days you sent him to be incarnate from Virgin Mary, to be Savior and Redeemer of world. In Him you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In Him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life. On night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for remembrance of me. After Supper he took cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to m, and said, Drink this all of you: This is my Blood of new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for remembrance of me.
