4 EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just. The Lord [be] with you. And let them all say: And with your spirit. Up [with your] hearts]. We have [them] to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord It is worthy and just. And so let him then continue 4

5 PREFACE: WHO JESUS IS It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father most holy, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, your Word through whom you made all things, whom you sent as our Savior and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin. We render thanks to you, God, through your beloved Child Jesus Christ, whom in the last times you sent to us as savior and redeemer and angel of your will. who is your inseparable word, through whom you made all things and it was well pleasing to you, you sent from heaven into the virgin s womb, and who conceived in the womb was incarnate and manifested as your Son, born from the Holy Spirit and the virgin; 5

6 PREFACE: OUR REDEMPTION Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people, he stretched out his hands as he endured his Passion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection. And so, with the Angels and all the Saints we declare your glory, as with one voice we acclaim: who fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people stretched out [his] hands when he was suffering, that he might release from suffering those who believed in you; who when he was being handed over to voluntary suffering, that he might destroy death and break the bonds of the devil, and tread down hell and illuminate the righteous, and fix a limit and manifest the resurrection, 6

8 EPICLESIS You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body + and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8

9 INSTITUTION NARRATIVE At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU. taking bread [and] giving thanks to you, he said: Take, eat, this is my body that will be broken for you. 9

10 INSTITUTION NARRATIVE In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME. Likewise also the cup, saying: This is my blood that is shed for you. When you do this, you do my remembrance. 10

11 MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION The mystery of faith. We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again. Save us, Savior of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free. 11

12 ANAMNESIS AND GRATITUDE Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Remembering therefore his death and resurrection, we offer to you the bread and cup, giving thanks to you because you have held us worthy to stand before you and minister to you. 12

13 PRAYER FOR UNITY BY THE SPIRIT Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. And we ask that you would send your Holy Spirit in the oblation of [your] holy church, [that] gathering [them] into one you will give to all who partake of the holy things [to partake] in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, for the strengthening of faith in truth, 13

14 PRAYERS FOR CHARITY Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with N. our Pope and N. our Bishop and all the clergy. 14

15 PRAYERS FOR THE DEAD Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. 15

16 PRAYERS FOR THE LIVING Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. 16

17 DOXOLOGY Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, for ever and ever. Amen. that we may praise and glorify you through your Child Jesus Christ, through whom [be] glory and honor to you, Father and Son with the Holy Spirit, in your holy church, both now and to the ages of ages.
