1 Duke University Chapel Service of Worship Palm Sunday April 17, 2011 Eleven o clock in the morning Keeping the heart of the University listening to the heart of God The Entry into Jerusalem, by the Limbourg Brothers, before Our service begins with a procession of the palms to recall the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The palms we wave reflect the fragility of the celebration since a mere five days later, the crowd s adulation turns to hatred. In Philippians, we read Paul s account of Jesus ministry. Paul sums up the humiliation and the glory of Jesus that we prepare to honor this week. The gospel narrative is a retelling of the passion of Christ, drawing primarily from the gospel of Matthew.

2 At the close of today s service, the Lord s Supper will be celebrated in the Memorial Chapel located to the left of the chancel. Immediately following the Lord s Supper, a service of prayer for healing will also be held. The service consists of prayers for healing and wholeness, with anointing and laying on of hands.
