1 eart beat Love one another as I have loved you. John 15:17 H Our Weekly Prayer A Prayer for Holy Week 1st April 2015 Week 10 Term Lord Jesus Christ, in this sacred and solemn week when we see again the depth and mystery of your redeeming love, help us to follow where you go, to stop where you stumble, to listen when you cry, to hurt as you suffer, to bow our heads in sorrow as you die, so that, when you are raised to life again, we may share in your endless joy. Amen. ( Celebrating God s Presence UCPH HOLY WEEK STORY - On Thursday at 12pm we will begin our service in the undercover area. Classes will walk to the Church, pausing to reflect on the events of Holy Week on the way. Families are welcome to join us. Our Lady Help of Christians Parish Mass Times Saturday 6pm Sunday 8.30am & 6pm

It has been an amazing 10 weeks with many great things occurring. It is now time for us all to pause, replenish and refocus for the next term. In entering a week of well-earned holidays, We pray for the safe return of all our families next term. We also pray in thanksgiving for those who have been a part of our community and will leave us at this time. We are grateful for their contributions to our community. First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion Classes began Sunday 15th March 8am or 5pm First Holy Communion 14th June 2015 Sport Approx Levy First Trial Dates Basketball $905 Tuesday April 14th Football (Soccer) $225 Wednesday April 15th Tennis $225 Thursday April 23rd Touch Football T20 Cricket Blast Cross Country & Track and Field $505 Thursday June 11th $225 Thursday July 30th $120 Selection from Regional Event Last Day Term 1 Thursday 2nd April Term 2 Commences Monday 13th April OFFICE OPEN Wednesday 8th April Friday 10th April 8.00am 3.00 pm Venue Palmerston Senior College Fred s Pass Reserve Palmerston Tennis Courts Driver Primary School Oval Fred s Pass Reserve Date and Venue TBA Like Christmas, it is easy to get caught up in the commercialisation of Easter. In amongst all the chickens and chocolate, it is easy to miss the point of Easter Sunday, and even easier to forget the Passion of Christ that leads up to it. Without remembering the life of Jesus and the Passion of Holy Week, Easter makes no sense for us today. Without the ministry and suffering of Christ before his death, Easter is just a story of magic or myth. The Easter story (in its entirety including the death and resurrection) gives us faith and hope in life now and beyond. That first Easter morning the women and then the men visited the tomb and found the stone rolled away. That stone that had symbolised so powerfully the end of life and hope and future. All was lost as that stone was rolled across the tomb. It was the final moment of the reality of the death of the one they loved and who had brought love, life and hope to them. That first Easter morning the stone was rolled away. The barrier between death and life was gone. The barrier between despair and hope was removed. The barrier between brokenness and wholeness was destroyed. That first Easter God moved the stone, and he still moves stones today. Is there something that stands between you and life, between you and hope, between you and wholeness, between you and God? God still moves stones today. Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. So this Easter day let us ask God to remove all that stands between us and life, hope, wholeness and himself. May we know the new life of the resurrection, Lyn, Cate, Gez and Lindsay lindsay.luck@nt.catholic.edu.au lynette.delaney@nt.catholic.edu.au cate.cockayne@nt.catholic.edu.au gez.mulvahil@nt.catholic.edu.au

3 Assembly Spotlight Appreciations THURSDAY 2.50pm Farewell Term 1 This week our appreciation goes to Mrs Anna Priest, who has now finished her contract with us, this time gave our teachers the opportunity to complete the MAI s with students. All the Parent helpers who assisted with all the PARRS sporting events over Term 1. Students and Staff have appreciated your help. Father Ched for joining our community, while Fr Tom is away. Caritas A very BIG thank you to all of our families for the wonderful generosity shown for our Cup of Coins for Caritas fundraiser last Friday. We raised $615 on this day, and have added this to other money already raised for Caritas. This money will go a long way to helping those in need. Publication Permission Note Earlier this month, every student was given a note requesting parents or carers advise us of their permission regarding the printing of photos of student and students work in various formats. Although we have had a great response, this is important information that needs to be updated regularly for each student. If you did not receive this note or need another copy please contact Zoe, zoe.walkington@nt.catholic.edu.au.to arrange. This information is vital in ensuring that your intentions are carried out regarding your child and we would regret publishing any photographs of students or work that was not permitted. Please return this note ASAP. First Holy Communion & First Reconciliation Classes Preparation classes began Sunday 15 th March 2015, children are still welcome to commence. 4 Class of the Week Transition Room 4 We have enjoyed learning about The Easter Story and the events of Holy Week. We have listened to the stories of Palm Sunday, The Washing of the Feet, and The Last Supper many times, and retold these stories with our Scriptural Storytelling Set. Viewing different versions of these stories on our Interactive Whiteboard, and producing illustrations to demonstrate our understandings has helped each of us to learn more about the life of Jesus. Our class loves to sing, and we have especially enjoyed learning Michael Mangan s Sing it Hosanna and Colin Buchanan s He Died Upon the Cross. We wish our Sacred Heart Community, and all their family and friends a very safe, happy and Holy Easter.
