1 Lesson 7: Consecrated Life SWBAT describe the Consecrated Life State in Life Vocation and provide examples of people who answered this call from God. Materials Consecrated Life Definition sheet, posted in classroom; student copies of Warm-up and Consecrated Reflection sheets; students own cut-and-pasted completed Examples of Vocations sheet from Lesson 5 Warm-up Students complete the front of the Warm-up sheet. ~5-7 minutes Sequence 1: Consecrated Life definition ~10-12 minutes Use the students warm-up sheet answers regarding what they know about each vocation as a jumping off point for discussion. Turn the discussion to the examples of Consecrated people that the students pasted onto their Examples of Vocations sheet during Lesson 5. Read through the descriptions. Try to also include local examples, especially people familiar to the students. Introduce definition of consecrated: set aside for a sacred use. Guide the discussion so that all points in the definition card are covered. Have students copy the definition (or description) of the Consecrated Life onto the back of the Warm-up sheets. Sequence 2: Distinction of Consecrated State in Life Vocations ~6-8 minutes Elicit from the students that the various Consecrated States in Life differ in being lived in the world or not and in their prayer/work balance. Turn discussion toward what the students find admirable, appealing, awe-inspiring about this life and examples of Consecrated people, who serve the Lord with an undivided heart and take delight in doing His will. Sequence 3: : Individual Reflection ~10-12 minutes Hand out Consecrated Life Reflection sheets. Read the quote aloud and have students write their reflections. Have students volunteer to share any part or all of their reflections and discuss their reflections and the quote. Closure Students describe Consecrated Life, differences in the various branches, main points of discussion. ~5 minutes 2010 The Vocation Tree, Inc.
