1 Boothby Pagnell. Braceby. Humby chapel. Ingoldsby. Lenton. Old Somerby. Ropsley. Sapperton Pew Sheet: Pentecost! Please remember in prayer: In the Church: All Christian people, that we may be obedient to the challenge and calling of the Holy Spirit of God. All communities and churches dedicated to the Holy Spirit or the Holy Paraclete. On our Ember Days for those discerning a vocation to ordained ministry. In the world: God s blessing on the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan. The people of Gaza injured or bereaved in the recent unrest, and for a resolution to the divisions and injustices of that area. Those affected by the Ebola outbreak, and for those seeking to help them. The sick: All who suffer within our own communities, including Sue Troke, Sylvia Cook, Daphne Osborn, Jim Hazel, Beryl Simpson. Those who have died: Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon them. Bill Leslie (Jenny and family), Fr Hilary Costello (Community of Mount St Bernard Abbey). Collect for Pentecost: God, who as at this time taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit: grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgement in all things and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

In the calendar of the Western Christian churches, Ember days are four separate sets of three days within the same week specifically, the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday roughly equidistant in the circuit of the year, that are set aside for fasting and prayer. They are particularly associated with prayer for those who are considering a vocation to priesthood or are approaching ordination. Almighty God, you have entrusted to your Church a share in the ministry of your Son our great high priest: inspire by your Holy Spirit the hearts of many to offer themselves for the ministry of your Church, that, strengthened by his power, they may work for the increase of your kingdom and set forward the eternal praise of your name; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

5 Lay Ministry and Discipleship Development in the Beltisloe Deanery The Deanery will be running a free 16 session course between October 2018 and March 2019: The purposes are to help people to continue developing their lay discipleship to support discernment of a call to lay ministry The course will include: Supporting your faith journey and development Understanding and engaging with Scripture Prayer Individuals, communities and faith Anglicanism, faith and society Ministry and pastoral ministry Assisting in public worship Mission and evangelism If you are interested, please talk to your incumbent, who will help you to decide if the course is right for you and if so, sponsor you. The course meets the diocesan initial training requirement for lay ministry. Participation in the course does not commit you to a lay ministry role. However, if you do feel a call to lay ministry this would be explored further with your incumbent and through the PCC. For more information, please contact: Rev d Ian Williams or Rev d Anna Sorensen
