3 Name Block What is Buddhism? Buddhism is a religion based on the life and teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, known to his followers as. There are more than 360 Buddhists living all over the world, especially in China, Japan and Southeast Asia. Buddhists believe that the Buddha was enlightened or awakened from ignorance after learning the truth about life: That there is suffering in life and that suffering is caused by desire or wanting. The is the moment at which Buddhists believe the Buddha gained wisdom and became free from life's suffering. The Buddha is also called "The Enlightened One." The Buddha's teachings, especially an d, provide guidelines for the way Buddhists live. The 4 Noble Truths are important teachings of the Buddha, which tell his followers to end suffering. They are: 1. Suffering exists. 2. There is a cause for suffering. 3. There is an end to suffering. 4. In order to end suffering, you must following the 8-Fold Path. The 8-Fold Path focuses the mind on being fully aware of our thoughts and actions, and developing wisdom by understanding the 4 Noble Truths. It is the way Buddhists should live their lives. The
4 Buddha said that people should avoid. They should not have or do too much, but neither should they have or do too little. The "Middle Way" is the best. The path to Enlightenment is through the practice and development of wisdom, morality, and meditation. Breaking out of the cycle is called. It is the end of everything that is not perfect. It is perfect peace, free of suffering. Nirvana is the state of being where there is no more suffering and no more re-birth. Buddhists strive to achieve this state.
