1 L 108/54 Official Journal of the European Union III (Acts adopted under the EU Treaty) ACTS ADOPTED UNDER TITLE V O THE EU TREATY COUNCIL COON POSITION 2009/351/CSP of 27 April 2009 renewing restrictive measures against Burma/yanmar THE COUNCIL O THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 15 thereof, Whereas: (1) On 27 April 2006, the Council adopted Common Position 2006/318/CSP renewing restrictive measures against Burma/yanmar ( 1 ). Those measures replaced the previous measures, the first of which were adopted in 1996 in Common Position 96/635/CSP ( 2 ). (2) The restrictive measures imposed by Common Position 2006/318/CSP should be extended for a further period of 12 months because of the lack of improvement in the human rights situation in Burma/yanmar and the absence of substantive progress towards an inclusive democratisation process, notwithstanding the announcement by the Government of Burma/yanmar that multi-party elections will be held in that are owned or controlled by the regime in Burma/ yanmar or by persons associated with the regime, HAS ADOPTED THIS COON POSITION: Article 1 Common Position 2006/318/CSP is hereby extended until 30 April Article 2 Annexes II and III to Common Position 2006/318/CSP shall be replaced by the texts of Annexes I and II to this Common Position. Article 3 This Common Position shall take effect on the date of its adoption. Article 4 This Common Position shall be published in the Official Journal of the European Union. (3) The lists of persons and enterprises subject to the restrictive measures should be amended in order to take account of changes in the Government, the security forces, the State Peace and Development Council and the administration in Burma/yanmar, as well as in the personal situations of the individuals concerned, and in order to update the list of enterprises Done at Luxembourg, 27 April or the Council The President A.
