1 A Course In Miracle Workbook For Dummies Miracles are seen in light. LESSON 91 W It is important to remember that miracles and vision necessarily go together. 2 That miracles and vision necessarily go together needs repeating, and frequent repeating. 3 That miracles and vision go together is a central idea in your new thought system, and the perception that your new thought system produces. 4 The miracle is always there. 5 The miracle s presence is not caused by your vision; the miracle s absence is not the result of your failure to see. 6 It is only your awareness of miracles that is affected. 7 You will see miracles in the light; you will not see miracles in the dark. W To you, then, light is crucial. 2 While you remain in darkness, the miracle remains unseen. 3 Thus you are convinced the miracle is not there. 4 This follows from the premises from which the darkness comes. 5 Denial of light leads to failure to perceive the light. 6 Failure to perceive light is to perceive darkness. 7 The light is useless to you then, even though the light is there. 8 You cannot use the light because the light s presence is unknown to you. 9 And the seeming reality of the darkness makes the idea of light meaningless. W To be told that what you do not see is actually there sounds like insanity. 2 It is very difficult to become convinced that it is insanity not to see what is there, and to see what is not there instead. 3 You do not doubt that the body's eyes can see. 4 You do not doubt the images the body's eyes show you are reality. 5 Your faith lies in the darkness, not the light. 6 How can this faith in the darkness be reversed? 7 For your little s self the reversing of your faith in darkness is impossible, but you are not alone in your attempt to reverse your faith in darkness. W Your efforts in reversing your faith in darkness, however little your efforts may be, have strong support from the Holy Spirit. 2 Did you but realize how great this strength of the Holy Spirit is, your doubts would vanish about your ability to reverse your faith in darkness. 3 Today we will devote ourselves to the attempt to let you feel this strength of the Holy Spirit. 4 When you have felt the strength of the Holy Spirit in you, which makes all miracles within your easy reach, you will not doubt. 5 The miracles your sense of weakness hides will leap into awareness as you feel the strength of the Holy Spirit in you. W Three times today, set aside about ten minutes for a quiet time in which you try to leave your weakness behind. 2 Leaving your weakness behind is accomplished very simply, as you instruct yourself that you are not a body. 3 Faith goes to what you want, and you instruct your mind accordingly. 4 Your will remains your teacher, and your will has all the strength to do what your will desires. 5 You can escape the body if you choose. 6 You can experience the strength of the Holy Spirit in you. W relationships: Begin the longer practice periods with this statement of true cause and effect

2 2 Miracles are seen in light. 3 The body's eyes do not perceive the light. 4 But I am not a body. 5 What am I? 6 The question with which this statement ends which is, what am I, is needed for our exercises today. 7 What you think you are, which is your body, is a belief to be undone. 8 But what you really are must be revealed to you. 9 The belief you are a body calls for correction, being a mistake. 10 The truth of what you are calls on the strength of the Holy Spirit in you to bring to your awareness what the mistake that you are a body conceals. W If you are not a body, what are you? 2 You need to be aware of what the Holy Spirit uses to replace the image of a body in your mind. 3 You need to feel something that replaces the image of a body to put your faith in, as you lift that essence from the body. 4 You need a real experience of something else as your essence, something more solid and more sure; more worthy of your faith, and really there. W If you are not a body, what are you? 2 Ask this in honesty, and then devote several minutes to allowing your mistaken thoughts about your attributes of what you are to be corrected, and their opposites to take their place. 3 Say, for example: 4 I am not weak, but strong. 5 I am not helpless, but all powerful. 6 I am not limited, but unlimited. 7 I am not doubtful, but certain. 8 I am not an illusion, but a reality. 9 I cannot see in darkness, but in light. W In the second phase of the exercise period, try to experience these truths about yourself. 2 Concentrate particularly on the experience of strength. 3 Remember that all sense of weakness is associated with the belief you are a body. The belief that you are a body is mistaken and deserves no faith. 4 Try to remove your faith from the belief that you are a body, if only for a moment. 5 You will be accustomed to keeping faith with the more worthy in you, your big S Self, as we go along. W Relax for the rest of the practice period, confident that your efforts, however meager, are fully supported by the strength of God and all God s Thoughts. 2 It is from all God s Thoughts that your strength will come. 3 It is through the strong support of all God s Thoughts that you will feel the strength of the Holy Spirit in you. 4 The Holy Spirit and God s Thoughts are united with you in this practice period, in which you share a purpose like Their Own. 5 The Holy Spirit and God s Thoughts are the light in which you will see miracles, because Their strength is yours. 6 God s Thoughts and the Holy Spirit s strength becomes your eyes, that you may see. W Five or six times an hour, at reasonably regular intervals, remind yourself that miracles are seen in light. 2 Also, be sure to meet temptation with today's idea that miracles are seen in light. 3 This form would be helpful for this special purpose:

When we fail to understand what these symbols mean, they obscure the message that the words are trying to convey. Let us look at the words and symbols behind this lesson to help reveal the message they are trying to convey. A miracle is simply a change from your fear-based thought system to the thought system of love and forgiveness. It is a change in perception. In a miracle, you exchange a grievance for forgiveness. A grievance is an attack on another for their failure to follow your ego s plans. Forgiveness rejects your ego s belief that something outside of you is needed to save or make you happy. When you forgive, you accept the responsibility of being the source for your own inner peace. Whether you believe you are forgiving yourself or another, it doesn t matter since to give is to receive. You cannot be free from the prison of your grievance if you must stand guard over your prisoner. Both the jailer and the jailed are in the same prison of your hate and fear. Light is a symbol for following the thought system of the Holy Spirit. Light is a symbol for love and forgiveness. In time and space, the thought system of the Holy Spirit stands for love and forgiveness. The vision of Christ is the application of the thought system of the Holy Spirit in time and space. When you utilize the vision of Christ, you look through the eyes of love and forgiveness and see the light. You look beyond the physical form to the essence that the physical form was meant to hide. When we replace the symbols with a correct understanding of the true meaning of the symbols, the message becomes clearer if not obvious. For example: Miracles are seen in the light. Exchanging a grievance for a miracle allows you to see the light. Exchanging a grievance for a miracle is seeing with the vision of Christ. The vision of Christ comes from following the thought system of the Holy Spirit. The thought system of the Holy Spirit is based on love and forgiveness. Miracles are seen through the eyes of love and forgiveness. Light is the embodiment of love and forgiveness. Miracles are seen when you follow the thought system of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a symbol for your higher self or what I have referred to as your big S Self. Your big S Self is always within your mind but you choose to deny its existence.

4 When you choose to listen to the thought system for fear, you place your faith in your ego s little s self. When you follow the laws of the ego, you perceive a world of darkness. You will become aware of miracles, when you choose to follow the voice for love. Miracles are always there but you fail to see them because you fail to follow the thought system of love and forgiveness. This idea that miracles are always there but you fail to see them is another example of how perception works. When you judge a neutral thought as either good or bad, you are placing value upon a thought that is meaningless. The thought had no power to impact your reality. When you judge the thought as something you value, your mind is placing value on the meaningless and raising that thought to a desire and belief. The law of perception states that you will see what you want to see. You will see what you put your faith upon. Put your faith in the meaningless and you will see the meaningless. If you value the body, you will believe you are a body. Your faith that you are a body will provide the evidence you seek to confirm that belief. What you believe you will perceive. What you expect to see, your physical eyes will confirm. What you believe will become your provisional reality. All weaknesses that you experience are associated with your belief that you are a body. This mistake that you are a body needs correction. A mistake is not a sin. You are not required to make amends or be punished. You merely need to correct the mistake and move forward. The body is more than just flesh and bones. The body is a symbol for your ego s fear-based thought system. The body is the embodiment of your ego s belief in lack, limitation and separation. When you believe that you are the body, you are placing your faith in the thought system of your ego. You are placing your faith in fear. You will value what you believe you are. Believe that you are the body and you will believe that you can attack and be attacked. Believe that you are the body and you will value your right to hold grievances. When you believe you are the body, you deny your divine birthright and your spiritual essence. Your denial blocks your awareness of your big S Self and the Voice for God within you. Light is a symbol for following the thought system of the Holy Spirit. Light can only be seen through the eyes of love and forgiveness. Darkness is a symbol for following the thought system of the ego. Miracles are always present but without the vision of Christ the miracle s existence is blocked by the darkness. This darkness comes from your desire to maintain or hold grievances. Placing your faith in the ego s fear-based thought system, you will believe darkness to be real. Darkness will become your provisional reality. When you believe that you are not the body and you place your faith in the thought system for love and forgiveness, the light will become your provisional reality. Faith goes to whatever you want it to. What you want becomes your provisional reality because that is what you value.

5 You are not asked to blindly believe that you are not the body. Instead, this lesson asks that you open your mind up to the possibility that the body is not you. When you do this, new evidence will be presented to support that new possibility. Your faith goes to wherever you direct it to go. Place your faith in your higher big S Self and the Holy Spirit will provide evidence to support that faith. Question: What is the difference between believing the body is you, versus the belief that the body is merely a game token that allows your spiritual essence a place on the game board of time and space?
