If You re Happy & You Know It, Shout Thank You! All Ages 07/16/2017 This Week s Theme: The purpose of this lesson is to celebrate the Divine Goodness we see in each other and in ourselves. We believe God is all-good and active in everything, everywhere. We believe our thoughts affect our words, thoughts, and actions. We are happy, grateful, and spread happiness to others. Teacher Insights : Our lesson today will focus on the theme of a Unity Principle #1: God is all-good and active in everything, everywhere. We celebrate Divine Good in ourselves, in one another, and in the world! We believe the healing light of God strengthens us. We believe The light of God surrounds us. The love of God enfolds us. The power of God protects us. The presence of God watches over us. Wherever we are, God is, and all is well. Amen Unity Writings: Love is good will in action. It holds the universe together by its constructive, dynamic, unifying power. It is the great solvent of every limitation and every problem. -Richard Lynch, The Secret of Health It is the God in the midst of us that frees and heals. - Mrytle Fillmore Scripture: God saw that the light was good; and God separate the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:4 Jesus said to the people, Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify God. Matthew 5:16 I can guarantee this truth: Whatever you did for one of my brothers or sisters, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did for me. - Matthew 25:40 Unity Principles: (today s principle is highlighted) 1. God is all Good and active in everything, everywhere. 2. I am naturally good because God s Divinity is in me and in everyone. 3. I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe. 4. Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.
5. Practice, Practice, Practice. I do and give my best by living the Truth I know! I make a difference! Greet Parents and Children. At the Sign-in table, remind parents/guardians to: Please print names Does your child have a yellow registration form filled out? Any special needs that we should know about? Pre-session : Living the Empowered Life Create a sacred space at the table in your room. Light the Christ candle and gather meaningful sacred objects around it. Pre-session Activity: Gratitude Banner Materials: Strip of butcher paper, markers, crayons As children arrive this morning, invite them to draw things for which they feel grateful. Read aloud Unity Principle #1: God is all Good and active in everything, everywhere. Sacred Circle: I am very, very good. 3 Ohms: In order to synchronize our energies, have the children sit in a circle and begin sacred circle with 3 ohms. Affirmation: Say together, I am grateful because I see God in you and me! Introductions/Affirmations: In turn, have each student stand and (1) say their name and (2) describe something that makes them feel grateful. Meditation: Breathe in deeply and as you breathe out, say to yourself, I am grateful for my feet. As you breathe in and out, feel your body be still and quiet Say to yourself, I am grateful for my legs. I am grateful for my tummy. I am grateful for my chest. I am grateful for my arms. I am grateful for my head. I am grateful for the Light in Me. I am grateful for the Light in everyone in this room. I am grateful for the light in my family. I am grateful for the Light in the world. Say to yourself, Thank you, God, for always being within me. Thank you, God, for always believing in me. Thank you, God, for helping me see good in others. I see good in the world. As we stand and open our eyes now, point to yourself and say, I see God in me. (Pause). Point to someone else in the group and say, I see God in you. (Pause) Point in any direction and say. I see God in the world. (Repeat) Amen. Love Offering: Divine Love, Blesses and multiples, all that I have, all that I give and all that I receive. And I am joy-filled and grateful. Students may place other things in the love offering basket: joy, friendship, love, etc. Story Time: What do you say when someone gives you something special? (Thank you!) Invite each child to describe something for which they feel grateful. Create a class Gratitude List.
Our story today comes from Luke 17, : Once there were ten very sad men because they had a terrible disease called leprosy. Leprosy was a terrible disease because they didn't have a cure for it and it was very contagious. That means that it could be spread from one person to another. If someone got leprosy, they had to leave town and everyone they loved, and go live with other people who had the disease. The leprosy would make their skin turn white and eventually they would lose their fingers and toes. These men where sad because they didn't have much hope. But things would soon change for these sad men. One day they saw Jesus walking down the road on his way to Jerusalem. They couldn't come close to Jesus, but they called out to him, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." When Jesus saw them, he said, "Go show yourselves to the priests." They did as Jesus told them and went to the priests. On their way to the priest, they were healed! All ten of them were healed! They were so excited. They ran to see their families. One man was different than all the rest. When he was healed, he was very excited, but he remembered to do something very important. He ran back to Jesus, shouting, "Thank you! I am healed!" He fell to the ground by Jesus's feet and thanked Him for what he had done. Jesus looked around and asked, "Didn't I heal 10 men? Where are the other nine men who were healed?" Jesus said to the man, "You may get up and go. Your faith made you well." Discussion Questions: Why were the 10 men so sad? (They were sick.) Why did they tell Jesus, Have mercy on us! (The sick men wanted to be healed). How many of the men were healed? (All of the men were healed.) How many men remembered to say thank you? (Only one man said thank you. ) Jesus told the man, Your faith has saved you. What is faith? Faith is the act of strongly believing something or in someone. What do you believe? In what things do you have faith? Why is it so important to say thank you? What makes you feel grateful? How can gratitude make you feel happy even when you might be angry or sad? If we believe that Source, the Light of God, is within you, how can this belief: - Comfort you when you feel sad? - Calm you down when you feel angry? - Help you be kind to others when you don t want to be caring? - Remind you to look for good in others and in the world? How can you remind yourself that you are very, very good every day? How can you remind others that they are very, very good? Say together this affirmation: I am grateful because I see God in you and me! Creative Experience #1 Sing If You re Happy & You Know It! If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap) If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap) Creative Experience #1 Sing If You re Happy & You Know It! (cont.) If you're happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp) If you're happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp) If you're happy and you know it, stomp your feet. (stomp stomp) If you're happy and you know it, do all three (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!) If you're happy and you know it, do all three (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!) If you're happy and you know it, do all three. (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!) Creative Experience #2 Make Get Well Cards for the Prayer Chaplains (White card stock, crayons, markers, pens, pencils): We can share the happiness inside of us with others who feel sick. Unity Church of Overland Park PRAYER CHAPLAINS make phone calls and send cards to those who are sick and at home for long periods of time. Distribute art supplies and invite children to make Get Well cards for the prayer chaplains to send to our sick and homebound members of our church. Closing Prayer (The Prayer for Protection): Let us pause for a moment in silence. We send thoughts of love to everyone in the world. ( Pause) The light of God surrounds us. The love of God enfolds us. The power of God protects us. The presence of God watches over us. Wherever we are, God is, and all is well. Amen Say together this affirmation: I am grateful because I see God in you and me! Dismissal: Invite children to make a gratitude list at home. Encourage children to invite parents, brothers, and sisters to add thank you statements to a family gratitude list. Teacher Reminders: Please HELP o Return the teacher tub and all supplies to the Resource Room o Sign out by writing the number of children you had on the Teacher Sign-In Sheet.
o o At 11 put the sign-in sheets in your supply tubs. Put the love offering in the envelope in your tubs. Teachers: Thank you for your service! We are fortunate to be blessed with the loving example you share with our children.
